Things I'm loving about Fall:
1. Maxi Dresses
2. Boots
I'm pretty excited to start wearing some of my favorite pair of boots, like these ones.
3. Candy Corn
I'm not quite sure how long I can resist buying some of this:
4. My New Pillows
I'm sure this is nothing new to any of you real sewers out there but I can't believe I haven't made all my pillows like this!
Things I'm loving about Fall:
1. Maxi Dresses
I think maxi dresses are one of the most comfortable pieces of clothing there is.
I acquired quite a few maxi dresses and skirts this last year and this purple skirt was one of them.
In the past once the weather got cooler I thought it was time to put them away with my summer clothes.
A pillow was the first thing I learned to sew and while it was easy, this method is way better!
If you have never sewn anything, you should start with this.
Lay your pillow on top of your fabric. Make sure there is space on both sides to fold it and overlap it and then an inch or so on top and bottom.
No need to measure!
Iron down both short ends and sew.
Turn your fabric inside out and overlap the edges.
Cut off any extra fabric you may have on the sides.
Slide the pillow out and then sew straight up both sides.
Turn inside out and put on your pillow!
Doesn't that sound easy?
Unlike many projects I've done that claim to be fast, this one really is.
I made two pillows in about 40 minutes.
Great DIY tutorial. Also love your outfit in the first pic !

You better workkk making your own pillows!!! I love them!!
ReplyDeleteAlso love that outfit. Maxis with jean jackets are my current fave :-)
I love maxis and candy corn too!! Can't wait to buy tons of candy corn, I eat it all in one sitting!!
ReplyDeleteExcited to wear my boots too but it has been so warm!
I made pillows this week too! But I glued mine ;) Wasn't in the sewing mood haha
ReplyDeleteAhhh...the dreaded candy corn! LOL I am holding out as long as I can on that one!! Love the pillows you made, great tutorial.
ReplyDeleteYou look so pretty!! I hear you on th candy corn weakness...throw some peanuts in there and I'm helpless.
ReplyDeleteYour pillows are fabulous!! I wanna make some!
I loved those pillows when I saw them on IG! Look great :) and maxis truly are the best inventions..... they just need to make mini maxis for 5'2" girls so I can wear them bear foot or with sandals hee hee
ReplyDeleteI LOVE those pillows. I will be doing that soon! Great post!
ReplyDeleteI love the maxi dress, that outfit reminds me of something that Blair from atlantic-pacific had worn! And those boots are so great for fall :)
ReplyDeleteLove the maxi! You know, I'd be interested in you doing a post sometime about your fashion essentials. Like your plain tees, jean jacket, etc. maybe? And I loe the tutorial. Looks so easy!
ReplyDeleteMaxi skirts/dresses are the best! I wore one today and it was so comfy :) And those are adorable pillows, great job!
ReplyDeleteTwins! We both posted about pillows tonight. I love, love your chevron ones. Again I must learn how to sew. Your outift is so pretty too! People should wear more purple:)
ReplyDeleteWow, that is a fast tutorial! Way faster than my usual way of doing it.
ReplyDeleteYou mean you haven't been wearing your boots all summer? I guess that's the blessing I have of living in the frozen north ;-) Although the extra wear does show on my favourite boots! I was horrified to find the start of a hole in the sole. That purple skirt looks great on you!
I grew up wearing long skirts (homeschooler!) so I'm a little afraid to try the maxi skirt trend.
Whoa....am I the only one who noticed the weird way the light is filtering through the bottom of your dress? That's pretty cool :) In other news, you look beautiful, as do your pillows.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get my boots out again. My go-to winter outfit? Jeans, boots, a cardigan, and a pretty scarf!
<3Hima
I love that look.
ReplyDeleteI told myself no more candy corn til October. I could easily eat 2 or 3 bags a week. No self-control.
You are making me want Fall to be here now! Hope you have a fantastic week, Katie!

I almost broke out my riding boots this week!!! It's almost time!! Holla! And high five for the DIY pillows! That fabric is right up my alley!!
ReplyDeleteI am definitely taking my maxi skirts and dresses into fall with me! I never thought the trend would work on my body but I was totally wrong. Love your outfit and the pillow tutorial is great - I love throw pillows but hate how much they are. Now I can just pick up some cheap ones and make my own cover for them. This is great for remixing old pillows you already have, too!
ReplyDeleteStephanie
