"morning" sickness

dress: kohls   belt: target   boots: target  necklace: caroline g

"Morning sickness" is a misleading term, as I felt nauseous for a good part of the day for many, many weeks.  Thanks to some medicine and the second trimester it is starting to fade, but throwing up still occurs occasionally throughout the week.

I may even have to go as far as saying I hate being nauseous more than I hate the dentist.
And that is a big statement for me to make.

Things that increased my gag factor:

1. Seeing the word McRib on the McDonalds sign a few times a day.  I've never even had one, but just the word made me want to throw up.

2. Walking into the kids' bathroom at school.  Not a pleasant smell.

3. Opening my fridge.  Regardless what was in there, it never smelled good.

4. Taking those gigantic prenatal vitamins.

5. Flossing my teeth, which only happened twice the first two or three months.  And brushing my teeth was a struggle too.  My oral hygiene definitely suffered during this time.  Yet another reason to hate the dentist.

I do have to say, that although still a little nauseous the second trimester is proving to be much better than the first.  I have a little more energy and am filled with more excitement and less anxiety.  It is starting to feel more and more real that I am having a baby!

  4. I hope this means that the worst is behind you :).

And seriously how did the term "morning sickness" come to be if so many pregnant women have said it happens at any time during the day? They need to fix that.

    You look gorgeous!

  8. Oh my goodness! I have heard stories about "triggers" of morning sickness, but it is so hard to imagine. My sister got nauseous from having anything touch her neck -- crazy hormones! Hope you start feeling better soon!

  10. 2. I can't deal with it. I'll only use it first thing in the morning, when it's freshly cleaned. Otherwise, I make the trek to the lounge (yes, I leave them alone and all..usually there's an aide in my room anyway). I thought I was the only one this affected!

  11. The words Mc and Rib should be illegal. Disgusting.

I feel your pain. Just hit 12 weeks and am hoping for an end to the nausea and an increase in appetite. So glad 2nd tri is treating you nicer!

My oral hygiene has suffered, as well. When Elena sees me brushing my teeth she fake gags. Imitating me. Awesome!

    Looking adorable, as usual!

  14. Glad to hear the worst is behind you! Although I didn't experience morning sickness to the degree that you did brushing my teeth and the thought of mexican food made me gag though most of the first tri. Which was weird considering the first few weeks I actually CRAVED mexican!

  16. I love your necklace! I too suffered from "morning" sickness, it's absolutely horrible. Preggie pops or halls vitamin c hard candies helped so much. If it gets too bad ask your doctor for Zofran, mine got so bad that I lost a ton of weight with all the throwing up. Zofran saved me.

  17. Dude, I totally hear you. I'm not even pregnant and the very THOUGHT of those dang McRibs get my gag reflexes going! NASTY! Who likes those?

You look gorgeous - just know that you'll feel better soon enough...and if you don't feel better soon, then you'll have a beautiful babe to show for your efforts!
    LOVE YOU!

  18. A Discolored picture of chicken mcnuggets on the menu board made me nauseous, as well as anything from subway... If I saw a discarded cup from there or a billboard or commercial, I thought I would hurl.. Any meat from the store would send me over the edge too.. I did better with a different brand of the prenatal vitamins.... I didn't have any queasiness with baby number two!! :) I bet that is how it will be with you as well!!! :) :) :) we are all so happy for you!!!!!!

  20. You poor thing...I hope you feel better now being in your second trimester! I always think about how I'll do it as a teacher. I hate using the same bathroom as the kids. Dun dun duh.

  21. I hate being nauseous more than anything! I was fortunate not to have much morning sickness, but I had to eat something every hour in order to avoid it! That was not helpful for the weight gain :) Loving the boots and the necklace!

  25. Okay, I am far from being prego, had a tubal and am almost 45...McRib would make me barf too! LOL My biggest problem during my pregnancies was nose bleeds! UGH!!! Oh, and the smell of fish!! Had to by-pass that section of Whole Foods. Hang in there!!!

  26. you will hate me for this.. but you have to go to the dentist before you have your baby.. your teeth are one of the things that give to your baby.. so you have to make sure you get a checkup between the second and third trimester.. its not fun at all.. but ya gotta do it..

  27. You ARE having a baby! Woohoo! :-D I couldn't even brush my teeth the first couple months of each of my pregnancies... No point anyways, when you just end up throwing up. But it's worth it. ;-)

  44. The word McRib will forever gross me out and I'm no where near being pregnant. I saw another phrase on the McDs sign this weekend that I will refrain from typing but it was possibly even worse than McRib...

  45. You look adorable! Aw, it will all be worth it in the end. And seriously, I think McRibs make a lot of people throw up, pregnant or not! :)

You have an adorable bump :)
It is so ironic that prenatal vitamins seem to induce nausea. Can't they make them like one of those delicious drink powders that taste delicious?

  50. i didn't read all the comments so someone may have already said this, but they have gummy prenatal vitamins... (target, walmart, winco) probably anywhere really. anyway, they SAVED MY LIFE!! i didn't take prenatals my first trimester because they made me sick, but try the gummy ones, they won't disappoint :)

  51. Awww you poor thing! I heard that part of morning sickness is low blood sugar/glucose levels, so I would be screwed with my Hypoglycemia. Hope you don't have it much anymore!
