I Couldn't Live Without . . . . . Our new table

Chris and I recently got a new dining room table and I can't even tell you how much I love it.  We had a nice table when we moved into our house eight years ago, but it was counter height which is not practical for kids, and definitely had it's wear over the years.  So we were ready for a new table. Chris found this local company What We Make and we loved them!  They use reclaimed wood and make beautiful pieces.  You choose the size of the table, and the stain of it.  Their tables are made from 100+ year old reclaimed planks salvaged from midwestern barns.  Ours can seat 8 people, but you could pull up folding chairs on the ends for two more seats if you needed to.

We got a bench with ours for one side of the table.  It is perfect for Addilyn because she'll just climb up there and move all around while we eat.  Way more fun than her highchair!

We found the two end seats on sale from World Market.  I told myself I would not get fabric chairs because of Addilyn but they were such a good deal and we just don't let her sit in them.  Hopefully that will last!  I found the other three chairs at Goodwill (three different trips) and each was under $5. I tried different things with each one and couldn't decide which way I liked best and am just leaving them for now.  I used a mix of chalk paint and just white paint, distressed them a little and put wax over it.  I still need to finish one of the chairs!

I absolutely love how it looks in our dining room and is by far our favorite piece of furniture we own!

  7. Pretty new table! I like the bench and chairs combination. It sounded like you were a little undecided about your white chairs... what if you painted them the yellow/mustard color in your curtains?? I love this space - it seems like you've got a pretty tree house view from every window!!
