Thankful Thursday

When I sat down tonight to write this post at first I thought of multiple things that seem hard in my life right now - the recent news of Chris' grandpa's poor health, the continual wait to get pregnant, situations at my job, the small amount of time Chris and I seem to be able to spend together lately . . . .  

I feel like I could be justified to complain and be sad about a handful of things today, but I also know that there are so many good things in my life and that I often forget how lucky and blessed I am.  

Tonight I am thankful for: 

1. A job that is so close to my house. 

2. A husband that I love and miss when I don't get enough time with him.  

3. Warm weather today and the happiness of spring and then summer around the corner. 

4. A God that uses trials to bring us closer to Him and closer to each other.  

And  who promises to work for the good of those who love Him. 

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, 

who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28

a confused husband

Sometimes I think my husband is confused about my blog.  

He is confused that I know about other bloggers and talk about them like they are my friends. 

He is confused because he thinks that soon I could easily have 30,000 followers.  

He also fails to remember sometimes that I have a blog and rarely reads it (which really is okay with me).

Last night at my parent's house, my sister, Chris and I were talking about my blog and my sister asked Chris if he reads it.  

After he said that he doesn't look at it often and sometimes forgets I have a blog, I told him it's a good thing because I write about him at least once a week.  I told him I even had a whole day a week dedicated to things that annoy me about him. 

  So maybe he should start reading it more often.  

Speaking of annoying, I am incredibly easily annoyed.  Definitely makes the list of my personality flaws. Chris does a lot of things that annoy me, like pick at his teeth, and chew really loudly. 

 If you ask Chris what annoys him about me, he would say that I have so many things that annoy me.

Now I know I'm making a ridiculous face, but mine is intentional.  I was trying to get Travis to make our monkey face.

While there are some things that annoy me about him, no doubt in my mind that I am an incredibly lucky woman to be married to him! His positive qualities FAR outweigh his annoying habits.

Mingle Monday

Bridal Shower

Yesterday we got to celebrate future Lauren in Law with a bridal shower.  

It was so much fun to be with Lauren and Lauren.

I couldn't be luckier with the sister and future sister God has given me!

Lauren's colors are red and grey so we did our best to match those for the shower.  

We had a little mailbox where people could write advice or a happy note for Lauren and Jacob: 

 I've tried a few times in the past to make these tissue paper balls, and they never turned out right. 

I'm happy I finally succeeded!

Isn't she beautiful?  My brother is certainly lucky! 

I feel pretty lucky too, to be getting another sister and great friend!

5 things Friday

1. I got this shirt at Old Navy for $3.  I really like the color. Slightly unsure about the higher front. 

2. Last week Chris was out of town so I didn't make much variety in dinner each night.  

I realized Friday morning that I had some kind of Mexican meal every night.  

I used to have an irrational hatred of tortillas.  

Now I'm not sure what I was thinking, as this was one of the delicious meals I had last week:

3. One of my students wrote me a story this last week.  There was a part where a girl gets a letter from her teacher, introducing herself, before the school year starts.  

 It says, " Here are some of my favorite things: reading, writing, drawing and of course teaching. I love to run. I have dirty blond hair and blue eyes.  I love sushi and candy.  I hate any type of insect. Love, Mrs. Vale" 

Well she pretty much nailed me right on. 

Except for the blue eyes. 

Glad they're learning the most important things about me.   

4. Made these frozen yogurt dots last night. 

They were pretty good.  

Except they melted very quickly.  I was was pretty much eating yogurt with my hands by the end.
