Funnier

top:  target (beach coverup)    jeggings:  jcpenney   shoes: target

Sometimes, I wish I was funnier.  Sometimes when I read some other funny blog posts first I laugh and then I feel a little jealous at their sense of humor.

Overall I was pretty shy growing up and didn't care too much to be the center of attention, until one time in high school I decided that I wanted to start being funny.  And I tried.  I think I tried pretty hard.  Which is a little pathetic.  Even more pathetic that I wasn't even successful.

Occasionally I get a little proud of a post that I think is pretty funny, like this one, but then I read the "funny" post a few days later and wonder if anyone besides my sister Lauren is laughing.  But I guess since she is the one who I started this blog for, I should consider her laughter to be a success.

  1. I feel the same way. I'm envious of people's humor.. sometimes I think about trying on my blog but I don't want to push it & I don't want it to seem un-natural. I feel ya girl. by the way.. cute shirt!

  4. I'm the same way. I read others' posts, and I'm like, "Why can't I be funny like that?" and when I try, I feel like I'm trying too hard. Haha. Oh well. :) We are who we are, right?

  5. I often think I'm funny too but usually Wade is the only one who laughs! I often feel the need to add a "haha" or wink emoticon so people know I'm making a joke ;) see what I did there?

  6. I have a much harder time trying to write anything serious or inspiring than I do when I'm writing a spoof or just doing a little tongue-in-cheek wordplay. Different types of writing seem to come more naturally to different people.

  8. Haha! I've kind of had the opposite problem most of my life... I'd try to be soooo verrrrry serious, and people laughed. So I've kind of given in to it, I guess, and inject humor into serious stuff when it's appropriate. And sometimes when it isn't. Because I'm awkward like that ;-) Humor... tricky stuff!!

  9. I feel like it's one thing to be funny in person and then a completely different thing to be funny through writing. I think it's pretty hard to be funny when writing.

If this makes you feel any better...I started following your blog the very first day I read it, because I thought you were that awesome!

I totally wish I were funnier. Some of my friends are hilarious, and I know I'm not even close to their level of funny. *sigh*

  13. I feel like people find things I say in person much more funny than when I type them out. However, I read that post and laughed. A lot of bloggers that people find hilarious seem to me like they try way too hard. You don't come off that way at all!

  24. I totally feel you! I shared a post once on making homemade taffy, which was by far the worst idea ever and I thought it was one of my most hilarious post but people commenting were more focused on the recipe than the dumbness of the whole idea! I was like hmmm....maybe I wasn't that funny. BTW I think you have a good sense of humor.
