why you won't want to sleep at my house

If sharing that I found a tick crawling in our bed last spring doesn't make you not want to sleep at my house then this probably will.

The other night I was nursing Addilyn in the middle of the night and thought I felt something crawling on my side.  I told Chris I thought there was a bug in our bed to which he was no real help at all and I couldn't see one so I thought I was just feeling things.

While same thing happened the next night, but I was convinced something was crawling on me.  I swatted at my side, while feeding Addilyn and saw an earwig crawling in our bed.  I somewhat panicked, trying to get it off our bed.  I put Addilyn down, mid feeding to which she started crying and I started leaking milk, all while frantically looking for the earwig.  I couldn't find it so I finished feeding her, put her back down and had to use the light of my phone until I finally found it.

Needless to say I was grossed out and had a hard time falling back to sleep.  So please come stay at my house.  Ticks, earwigs, and a crying baby in the middle of the night.  And if you're really lucky there will be a torn, eaten up diaper from Molly laying around the house too.  Sounds quite inviting don't you think?

  1. LOL (well, not really) I once woke up while prego with #1 screaming frantically that there was a HUGE spider on the wall. Poor hubby...turned all the lights on looked high and low...no spider. Must have been the pregnancy hormones, lack of good sleep, bad dream. So, ever since...if I say there is a bug in our room...he tells me to find it myself. LOL Of course, he doesn't think it is too funny when said bug is crawling on him!!!

  2. Oh my gosh! I had an earwig crawling on my leg the other day and I jumped so high and then couldn't find it after that. I think it crawled off my dog Bear. I hate creepy crawly bugs!! I love your outfit. The blue with the green in the scarf looks great together. I hope you don't have anymore bugs in the middle of the night crawling on you!!

  5. Oh man, I HATE earwigs. I've found a couple of centipedes around my house the past couple weeks, and it's freaking me out.

  6. Ahhh! I would freak out. And Chris sounds like Tyler.. A few months ago I woke up out of a dead sleep because I thought I felt something crawling on my arm. I tried waking him up but he ignored me.. I got the light on my phone on & saw a giant spider crawl over the side of the bed. Needless to say I freaked out & slept on the couch the rest of the night!

  8. living in African brought me many sleepless nights. bats, rats, giant cockroaches and centipedes, malaria carrying mosquitoes, and geckos have all found their way into my bed during our 2 years there. you'd think it would have made me one strong mama, but i still squeal at the sight of a tiny spider, ha!!

  11. We're getting a ton of bugs this fall--thankfully, though, they seem to be 'only' infesting the bathroom, not the bedroom!

  12. Eeek! Nothing freaks me out more than feeling bugs crawling on me while I'm sleeping! I wouldn't have been able to go back to sleep either!

  13. Your story made me laugh and cringe at the same time. It's happened to me before and it's gross!!!!! The joys of living in a house. We had rats last year that died in our attic, hence creating thousands of flies. We woke up one Saturday morning to thousands of flies all on one wall. Turns out they were from the dead rat. You don't want to know how many flies I killed that week. It was the most disgusting thing ever!!!! We got an exterminator out and we patched up the holes the rats were getting into the house from and set up some traps. It was awful and i never want to repeat that experience ever again. HOpe the bugs go away!!!

  15. Well your somewhat panic is probably better than what would have been my full on bug meltdown haha. And this time of year is notorious for them wanting to come stay warm inside. Don't they know they are not welcomed guests??

  16. oh my this brought back memories. Just before we moved I had one in my bed too!!! Nate was at work and for a second I forgot all about being pregnant and did a little dance...lol Then I had one crawling in the shower curtain while I was washing my hair!!!. I am glad I have not seen one here but no one would have wanted to sleep at my place either!!!

  21. Reading this post made me laugh but it also made me thankful that you share about real life. You share about crying babies and earwigs. You don't try to glam everything up. So thankful for that in a world where people sometimes try and cover their true selves.

  22. Bugs in bed freak me out. Make sure to use HOT water while cleaning your bed sheets. And then wait awhile before climbing back in.

  23. Hahahaa this is funny. With a new baby all is allowed though. I cannot say I am scared from insects. I don't like them but they don't scare me. That is weird because I scare and startle easily.

Anyway you look lovely in a Maxi as usual. You got 2 bright colors mixed with a Plain White Tee. Great Skirt & Scarf!

  24. Nobody wants to live with bugs, so I don't think there'd be any takers for the moment. Have you guys done something about it already? Hopefully Addilyn did not have to put up with bugs crawling all over her. No one would like to sleep over at her house when she invites friends over, so it's a good idea to do something with these unwelcome visitors.
