Chef Offended

dress: forever 21   jacket: target   boots: dsw  scarf: made by my sister-in-law

The other day I spent multiple hours baking some holiday goodies with my friend Rebecca.  Our house was filled with a large amount of desserts to which I was thoroughly enjoying a little too much.

Chris on the other hand, apparently not so much.  After dinner the next night he sat down on the couch with a handful of Oreos.  I asked him why he would be eating Oreos when there are three delicious homemade desserts to choose from, to which he told me he'd rather have Oreos.

He could not understand why I would be offended until I told him that would be like him spending a few hours making this fancy, real dinner (like he did that night) and me looking at it and taking out a box of macaroni to eat instead because I "like the taste better."
Often I fail at analogies when I'm trying to prove a point but this one he understood.  While he did apologize I told him I am never making desserts again and am just going to buy him a $3 box of Oreos instead.

Except we all know that isn't true because I really bake so I can eat them all myself.

  1. Sounds like my husband! But all the more for you, right? ;)

  2. Haha your last sentence made me laugh. I think your analogy was perfect!

  3. I love to bake but my husband recently lost 60 pounds so he is really particular about what he eats. I've been baking deprived, but it's better than having them go to waste. Other times I Just deliver them to friends :)

  4. How rude! Ha! At least he realized what he said was wrong. Your analogy was spot on. P.S. I will happily eat any desserts you want to send my way!

  10. That all being said, it'd be nice if I didn't have to hide desserts from Scott. He got into my stash of Christmas cookies last week.

Cute post...You have a sweet husband to apologize. My husband is not a big fan of deserts, which means more for me :)

  14. This would drive me bonkers as well! And I think the mac & cheese analogy is perfect.

  15. Oh men...how they don't think what they say can be offensive sometimes until you take a half an hour to explain it to them...then they feel bad..and that's the real reward haha ;)

  16. haha! this sounds like a conversation between michael and i, he does the same thing!

  17. This happens with us all of the time! I will make muffins, cookies, and other scrumptious treats-and Daniel won't touch them. Drives me bonkers because then there are way too many left for me!

  18. What a great analogy. You show him and never make him desserts again... (Ok, don't do that, that wouldn't make a healthy marriage) ;-) But seriously, that's a bummer. I'm glad he understood what bothered you about it.

  19. I will take your baked goodies over oreos any day! At least he understood where you were coming from. And you look adorable in that dress!

  23. Silly men. I'm convinced they just don't understand sweets. Homemade cookies are the best!

    Also, cute look!

  25. Super cute dress... I'd hate to offend as well, but Oreo's are really good! Especially double stuff! I'm not one for fancy treats either! I'd rather have a handful of skittles! :) BUUUUt your dress is super cute! :)
