My favorite day a year later
This is definitely my favorite time of the year but I think it's safe to say my favorite day of the year is the day after Thanksgiving. We always go cut down our tree with my family with the morning, eat handmade donuts from the tree farm and then spend the afternoon at my parents' house. The girls usually go to a store or two in the afternoon and we spend the evening decorating my parents' tree and eating pizza.
This day last year ended up being one of the worst and scariest days I've ever had, as it was the day we thought that we were losing our sweet baby after just hearing her heart beat two days before. Chris and I rushed to the doctor's office and we were both sure we had lost our baby. Those two hours were probably the worst two hours of my life.
It was the biggest relief when we saw our baby's heartbeat, and I was put on bedrest for the next few weeks as we prayed and waiting for my hemorrhage to go away and our baby to keep growing. And she did.
What a different day this was this year! We got to go get our tree and bring our healthy baby girl with us. We got to decorate my parents tree and Addilyn fell asleep watching. The next morning the three of us decorated our own tree and Addilyn loved looking at (well really trying to eat) each ornament.
This day was a reminder that I will never know what time will look like in the future. What a year will bring, what God has planned and a reminder that He is faithful.
God is so good.
What a fun little tradition. Addilyn looks so happy in these pictures!

ReplyDeleteGod really is so good! Thanks for the inspiring story. Also, could Addilyn possibly get any cuter? My goodness, that pink hat and outfit... where did you get them?
ReplyDeleteAh, I'm tearing up just thinking about how scared you were then! We experienced a very similar thing at at the beginning of my pregnancy with Micha. Seeing that little heartbeat was the most beautiful and relieving moment!

ReplyDeleteI have to tell you, I was just reading this post while at my church for our Christmas program rehearsal. I was taking a break from ky part on stage and listening to a friend sing "A Baby Changes Everything". It brought tears to my eyes. We obviously don't know each other, but I follow your blog, get encouragement (and excellent fashion tips from you) and pray for you and your family. So happy you have your sweet little girl!
