Thankfully I've been able to go to my sister for quite a lot of mothering advice and she is always so helpful. While she's given me a lot of great encouragement and help, one of the helpful things she's given me is the greatest baby distractor in the world.
Enter twinkle twinkle little star on youtube.
Or I should say twankle, twankle since that is how the little boy sings it. It has over 300 million views.
Addilyn seriously loves this video. If it weren't for playing this over and over while we did Addilyn's nebulizer treatments when she was sick, I don't think we would have made it through them three times a day.
I've played this many times on car rides home when Addilyn used to hate being in her carseat when it was dark outside. She'd stop crying and just stare at it. And it wasn't just because it was my phone or a video. I tried others and no such luck.
This video is like baby crack. I'm not sure if it is the star shaped owl, the mispronounced words or what but it is a baby calmer keeper.
Mamas. You should try. Just be prepared to have the little's boys voice saying "Twankle, twankle, little star" over and over in your head. It will be worth it.
Grant loved this one as a baby too :)
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for YouTube!!! I'm glad she loves it ;) you look so cute, as always!!

ReplyDeleteOh, I feel so sad when the owl leaves. Very Cute!
ReplyDeleteLove it, thanks! Try the first video for Jesus Loves Me. It's similar in style to the twinkle twinkle video. My little one is addicted.
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I could be of service : ) They should put this in the discharge papers when you leave the hospital with a newborn.
ReplyDeleteCute video! I have no doubt this will come in handy sometime soon :) Thanks for sharing!! PS Turns out your last post about trying Addilyn's cereal puffs made me want to try them and they are a funny textured treat!
ReplyDeleteHow have I not heard of this? Thanks for the tip... I love finding videos that will calm Klair instantly. Have you heard of Daniel Tiger? I'm seriously contemplating sending the creators a personalized thank you. And a gift basket. Addilyn might still be a little young for it, but it is the only show that Klair will watch. ..and by watch, I mean she gets sucked in. It's so nice to have something when she's sick and nothing else works!

ReplyDeleteI had to show this to Maggie this morning and she loved it. She started clapping along...too cute! I honestly don't show her many videos, but this one will be a good one to keep in mind :) Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeletehaha i played this and the dogs loved it- it's good for pets and babies!
ReplyDeleteSo funny - it really does sound like twankle twankle! I'll have to show this to my niece and nephews and see how they take to it :)
ReplyDeleteLove the stripes on stripes! New boots??
ReplyDeleteGood to know!! I made a goal to not show Allie any TV before age 2, but I always let her watch videos of herself on my phone, and often they are the only thing that calms her down! This probably isn't too different! I can see why babies would love it!
