The $15 Rule

lace blazer: kohls  shorts: loft  shoes: target  necklace: ebay

If you haven't learned by now, you should know that I am very cheap.
When I walk into a store I walk right to the clearance racks, and rarely look at anything else.

Usually if something is more than $15 I don't buy it.
Which partly explains why I have so many clothes, because I get them for really cheap.

This lace blazer was an exception by two dollars, but I am pretty excited about it.
I think I will be able to wear it all year long.

And just in case you're wondering, I got these scalloped shorts for $7 from the Loft,
these shoes from Target were also $7,
and I've already shared about my $15 necklace.

And I have to add a big thank you for all the encouraging and sweet comments on my post yesterday.
I know I've said this before but I really had no idea the kind of connections and relationships I could make through blogging.  Reading your comments yesterday morning and throughout the day brought me peace, encouragement and happiness - so thank you!

Home

We're home from Mexico!!  We had such a wonderful time. I plan on spending today looking through and uploading pictures, doing laundry, picking up our house and finishing a few Christmas projects.  I am so excited for Christmas Eve tomorrow - my family does all our traditions and presents then and my sister and her family come in tonight.  I wish the next week would go by really slowly! : )

I definitely did not wear this outfit today, as I will most likely be in sweatpants the majority of the day.  Here is another pinterest inspired outfit I wore last week:

Hope you've all had a great week!  I missed reading all your blogs while I was gone.  I hope to catch up today!!

Proud or embarrassed?

(cutting off my head was an accident - however for a Monday morning I'm perfectly fine not having my face in it.)

I'm not sure if I should be proud of this secret or embarrassed. Last week when I was doing some Christmas shopping I was looking in the girls' section at Target for my niece and found this dress. I am going to believe that it was labeled incorrectly and that is why it was only $3.50. I did however add the belt in hopes of looking more like an adult and less like a 12 year old. Needless to say I may start checking out the girls' section more often.

Agenda

I recently got this sweater at Old Navy and really like it. I even got lots of compliments on it today. However the one thing I do not love about it, is that the material is extra itchy so it looks much more comfortable than it is.

Lots on the agenda for today:
1. finish my Christmas shopping
2. make a few more gifts
3. wrap presents
4. get my bangs cut
5. go grocery shopping (I don't even have milk or bread in my house right now)
6. pick up my house

Yikes! I better get started . . . . .

First Snow

First night of December and the first snow! At this time of the year I get excited to see snow. Now in March I have a very different opinion. I couldn't be more happy that it is Friday today. Two more weeks and then Winter Break!

It's hard to see but I made my headband last night. I followed this tutorial and made it from jersey fabric. I'm excited to do more of them using old t-shirts.

My dog Molly was even excited about the snow and confused about me taking pictures!

Happy Friday!

Security

Two weekends ago I went shopping with my Lauren and Lauren (and my niece Lena). We found some great deals, but these shoes were by far the best deal. They were in the clearance section for $3.97 and then another 30% off that! Seems as though things are always cheaper in the stores because online they are $20. I want to wear them with tights, although that will be a slight fashion stretch for me.

On our way out of the store the security alarms went off, which seems to happen often, so we just kept walking. I have never been checked by an employee when they go off, so I'm not sure what the point is. Except that the next day when I went to put on my new sweater I found the bulky white security tag attached to it. Maybe I should stop and check when the alarm goes off.

Good Start

I woke up this morning to an email that drastically changed my mood for the better. Nicole over at Three's 4 Me asked me if she could feature me on her blog for Small Business Day. I was so excited! Thank you Nicole - you made me so happy! Definitely the highlight of my day.

I really like this scarf that I got last year from Old Navy, especially because it was one of those crazy deals when I got it for a $1.00 (and I of course bought six of them to give as gifts). However it is shaped like a big square and I see this as the only way to wear it which kind of makes me feel like a cowboy or a bank robber. I guess the fact that is is bright pink and other neon colors probably makes that not true, right?

And here's a picture of my decorated Christmas tree. I LOVE this time of year!

Back to Work

As much as I love my job, going back to work after a holiday break is so hard! I get really sad when things that I greatly look forward to (like Thanksgiving week) are over and that we have to wait a whole year for it to come again. Good thing Christmas break is only three weeks away!

I may be one of the cheaper people you could ever meet, especially when it comes to finding and buying cheap clothes. I bought this jacket about a year ago from Target, for about $7. I debated about it for awhile, thinking it was a little too "motorcycle-ish" for me. The more I wear it the more I like it and am now I am very happy with my purchase!

Thankful

Last year Chris came up with one of my favorite ideas ever. He took a piece of brown butcher paper and taped it to the ledge right by our stairs and wrote Thanksgiving 2010 so throughout the month of November we could write things we were thankful for. We did it again this year too. I plan on saving all of them and making them into a book or something so we can look back to see all the ways God has blessed us in those years. There are SO many things I am thankful for and this is a great reminder. I can't wait to continue this tradition yearly, especially once we have kids that can participate too!

Booties?

Writing and saying the word booties seems like I should only be referring to baby shoes but I think that it the appropriate term for them. I bought these booties at Old Navy a few weeks ago. I had seen so many different pictures of them looking adorable with tights, but was a little nervous to wear them. I finally did yesterday and I love them. My $12 purchase will definitely be worth it!

I do own pants

Some proof that once in awhile I wear something other than boots and leggings, although so much less comfortable. Well I should admit that these pants are probably made out of the same material as pajamas so it was really just the shoes that are not so comfortable.

New headband making technique! I need to make some to add to my etsy shop!

Do I own any other shoes than boots?

You may be asking yourself that questions as every outfit I've posted, I am wearing boots. And the pictures from the last two days are no different. I do own other shoes but (1.) My winter shoes are packed in a box that I still haven't unpacked (well besides the boots). (2.) My favorite thing about Fall clothing is boots and therefore I think I may still wear them everyday.

Happy Friday!

Daylight Burning Time

I don't know what it's technically called when we turn our clocks back and when I googled it I found someone wrote Daylight Burning Time and I think that's accurate. So I finally figured out a good place to take a picture with my camera outside just in time to turn our clocks back, which means it's too dark in the morning and dark when I get home. My days of taking an outside picture were very short lived.

Birthday

Yesterday I turned 27.

I read in a magazine this weekend that age 26 is your fitness prime. Bummer. However I also had two of my grandparents' friends tell me this weekend that I didn't even look old enough to be married and I don't think they believed me when I told them I've been married over 6 years. So maybe my young looks can trick the statistical prime fitness age.
