Cheapskates

I've talked numerous times about how cheap I can be.  Which can come in handy for shopping.  Like how I got these boots last year for under $10 or these pants for under $5.  

But being cheap definitely came with a few challenges when we got married, as Chris was the opposite of cheap and didn't think twice about spending more money. Thankfully we've both learned a little from each other and have balanced each other out.  He's learned the art of saving money and I've learned how to enjoy things like going out to dinner or a movie.  

I kind of think if I married someone more like myself I may land myself a role on the TLC show Cheapskates.  Who are the extreme of being cheap.  Like not using toilet paper and making your own deodorant cheap.  Or only getting furniture from dumpsters kind of cheap.  It's one of those shows that is so disturbing you can't not watch it.  And I really don't think I could ever go to those extremes. 

Although in college we did do our share of dumpster diving runs to Krispie Kreme donuts.  And believed we hit the jackpot when we'd find full packaged boxes of donuts that could fill up our trunk.  

And I wish I could say that we only ate donuts that were in nicely packaged boxes, but that would be a lie. On the occasion we would grab the defect bag of donuts and we may have eaten those too.  I think the Cheapskate producers should start visiting some college campuses for new candidates for the show.

ONE:  It finally looks like winter around here.  Just in time for it to be February and for me to want it to be Spring.  Bummer.  
TWO:  I told my class that I was pregnant yesterday.  One kid suggested I name my child Zorro and another asked "How did you know?"  I avoided both comments.  
THREE:  I will now shop in all sections of a clothing store.  We know I have a few things from the little girls' section and this weekend I was looking in the men's section for Chris and found this $6 shirt for me. 

.  FOUR:   And most importantly:  Happy birthday to my Mom!  I am well aware that my greatest blessing in life is my family and I couldn't have been luckier with the mom I was given.  I consider her one of my best friends and can rarely go a day without talking to her.  I'm so thankful to have such a wonderful, loving, amazing mom.  I LOVE YOU!!

Weekend Highlights

1.  Wearing this outfit and making it to church this weekend.  After the busy holidays and being off my feet it has been too long since we've been.  

2.  A friend of ours is a manager at a nice restaurant and invited us to come eat dinner for free!  It was delicious and we even got dessert: apple bread pudding and ice cream. 

3.  We got cable this weekend and I am a little too excited about it.  I'm mostly excited about being able to watch Guilianna and Bill.  I'd list all the other reality shows I plan on watching, but would fear you will think all I plan on doing now is watching tv.  

 

4.  Right around being 5 weeks pregnant the idea of drinking coffee completely disgusted me.  Which is really sad, since I drank it daily.  I finally had a cup of coffee this weekend and I can't say that it was as good as I thought before, but definitely not disgusting. 

5.  Reading some of my favorite blogs.  Like one of my very favorites Shanna from because Shanna said so.

I'm pretty sure that if I could pick a family to join that I've met through blogging I would pick Shanna's.  Her family is adorable, her two girls are mini fashionistas, following in their mom's footsteps, and her marriage sets a great example.  I'm also going to honestly say that if I had to pick someone's wardrobe to steal or someone to dress me daily I'd pick Shanna.  But besides her adorable family and amazing clothes, my favorite thing about Shanna is that she is sweet, honest and no doubt you will want to be friends with her.

Next up is Tara from the Penniless Socialite

Tara is a girl after my own heart.   She is a queen of bargain shopping, which means we already have a lot in common.  She puts together the cutest outfits, like this pattern mixing outfit or putting together this lace skirt and flannel shirt, which I just may be copying this week.  Tara also shares about other random life happenings, like her trips, her cats or what she is loving lately.

And last you need to met Nadine from the Back East Blonde.

Isn't her picture adorable?  Both her and her cute puppy?  Nadine's blog is one that I recently discovered and I'm sure glad I did!  Nadine recently moved from California to the east coast and blogs about her life and adventures there.  From one of the cutest puppies I've ever seen to her "anti fairy tale" love story. And who doesn't love reading about embarrassing childhood memories and photos?
