Pregnant Questions of an 8 Year Old

shirt: old navy   blazer: c/o wendybox   pants: H&M maternity   shoes: shoe carnival

I've had a few interesting conversations with my students about being pregnant, but this one definitely takes the cake for the funniest and most awkward.

Mrs. Vale, when is that baby coming?
In about 13 weeks.
Did you get the thing you get when you're pregnant?
What thing?
You know where you vomit?
Yes. I was sick at the beginning but I feel really good now.
So are you thinking about doing that whole breastfeeding thing?
Cue embarrassed teacher and attempt to think quickly.
Um, yes. Most moms do that.
So what. You think you'll do that for about 18 months or so.
Okay, time to get back to work.

And within 30 seconds half my class had heard from another that he asked me about breastfeeding.  Let's just hope this wasn't a topic of conversation at multiple dinner tables that night.

My 6 year old's class teacher was pregnant and she got to know that babies 'come from the tummy'one day she comes home puts a ball in her shirt and says Mom I think I too have a baby in my tummy! I almost fainted, thinking God, let this conversation be in at least 20 years from now!! LOL!
