Purple Poop
I wrote this post weeks ago and forgot about it. Thankfully while I do still have moments of feeling unprepared, I am not quite in this panic mood. I think that must be one reason you are pregnant for 40 weeks. Because you get to a point where you are so ready for this baby that it outweighs some of your more irrational fears.
I remember one of the first times I flew by myself and I was really nervous. I hate flying, hate crowds of people and hate doing things I haven't done before. I should be embarrassed to add that I was 20 when this happened. And married. I missed my flight and had a bad experience with an airport employee who was not helping me. I called my mom in tears. I remember thinking "I am old enough to be married, but am I not old enough to travel alone and handle this?"
Well I had a similar experience a week or so ago. I had gone shopping with my sister at Target earlier in the day. Realizing shopping at 8 months pregnant - not quite as enjoyable. (Thankfully being with my sister far makes up for it). That morning I was trying to find a pediatrician and figure out insurance stuff that was not working in my favor.
I was headed to a doctor's appointment by myself because Chris was out of town. I have been extremely blessed to have Chris go with me to almost all of my appointments so far. Tears started as I began crying because (on a more selfish level) I felt fat and worried that I'd never enjoy shopping and wearing clothes again, that I wouldn't find the right doctor for my baby, insurance would be too expensive and I didn't want to go to the doctor without Chris.
Then more tears as I thought, "If I can't handle these little things, how in the world am I going to be responsible for this baby?"
To add to it my doctor was talking to me about our pediatrician visits after the baby and said something about going after four days of being home, unless we have an urgent reason to visit like our baby's poop is purple.
Um, purple poop? What? I was too afraid to even ask if that was a real thing.
But now that I am 39 weeks I say bring it on, even if it involves purple poop - I am ready!
Oh my goodness! I am so there with you. Not so much about the purple poop, haven't had that talk with a doctor yet, BUT I have crazy irrational fears too. I have to continually tell myself that God has got this and that Satan is trying to get in my head and make me worry, doubt, wonder, feel anxious, etc. I'm not pregnant, but anytime I have an ache/pain, I always ask Nathan if I'm sick or need to see a doctor. I am NUTS. Ha!
ReplyDeleteHahaha purple poop! You poor thing :( everything is going to work out perfectly! Love you!!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat, purple poop? That's craziness! Everything is definitely going to work out!

I didn't Ben know to look for a pediatrician until I was like 8 months along. I also didn't know you were supposed to find daycare on the date of conception. I'm so glad things worked out and you're ready for your bundle of joy!
ReplyDeleteHooray for no fear of purple poop! I can't believe you are almost done, you look fantastic!
ReplyDeleteThat's funny Katie Jane!
ReplyDeleteI think insurance issues are enough to make anyone cry!
ReplyDeleteha, funny.
ReplyDeleteI can't say I've heard of purple poop before so hopefully that is just super rare and you don't have that problem! Haha. You are so close, how exciting!! :)
ReplyDeleteI still call my mom and husband crying when I am alone with the kids and don't know what to do! Usually I have solved the problem on my own, but just need some validation. I am always proud of myself when I can handle crises on my own. You got this!!
ReplyDeleteWow! 39 weeks! You are officially more pregnant than I have ever been! I'm SO excited for you! You are going to be such a great mother! And there's that gray maxi again! You are going to be a great mom! These fears are so natural, and I think that the instinct to be a mom is going to kick in right away. I know with my sister, she felt this way a lot during her first pregnancy, but quickly got into it. So happy for you though!
ReplyDeleteAlways,

ReplyDeletei am so anxious and excited for you!!
ReplyDeleteyour pictures are adorable.
cant wait for the big announcement post!
lol i was like purple poop? I did not have that during my pregnancy!
ReplyDeleteahh! i'm getting so excited and just waiting, watching!! ps a tip if you haven't done so already.. before baby came, the last thing I did was steralize the pacifiers.. if you haven't done it.. WAIT! I ended up opening em all, and throwing em all in a pot on the stove.. Then guess what- after baby apparently there are Sizes on pacifiers! duh! but now all mine were mixed up. So I ended up having to go out to target and buying another pack of newborn or size 0-3mos..
Aw, what a cute post! Purple poop sounds a little terrifying, but you've got this :)
ReplyDeletePurple poop would scare me too! Can't believe you have one week, or less, left!!!
ReplyDeleteAw - I can imagine there must be so many overwhelming feelings...but you will figure it all out, and it sounds like you have plenty of help from family if you need it :)
