Where is the nest?

tank top: old navy   skirt: target    sandals:target

I apologize that I think every post this week may just be about pregnancy but at this point 99.99% of my thoughts have to do with this baby.

I've been waiting for weeks for these nesting instincts to kick in and am still waiting.  I've organized everything in our baby's room multiple times but I don't think that counts.  I want to want to organize my kitchen cabinets, scrub my floors and sort through my closets.  But I would much rather sit on my couch, watch reality tv and take naps.  Maybe while eating a doughnut.

I have done a few forced nesting things, like clean out two closets and it took quite a bit of self talk to do it.  With about a week left until my due date I guess I can hope that it kicks in, but sitting around still sounds much better.

But if there are any of you nesting mamas that I read about out there want to come over, feel free! I'll reward you with watermelon, poptarts and reality tv afterwards.

  1. Hi! Love your blog! I am currently expecting baby #2 in Sept. With my first, who is now 14 months (our girls will be 16 months apart..ahhh!!), I never got the urge to nest!! Honestly, I barely even got her clothes and stuff organized. Now as we prepare for #2, I will probably do a little more "nesting" (forced, of course, haha) just because I know I'll be busier having a toddler and a newborn. Congrats to you!!! :)

  2. LOL. I don't think I ever went into "nesting" mode with either of mine. That my sweet hubby would attribute to the fact that I am usually in nesting (organizational, OCD, etc) mode all the time!

  3. I was an insane nester. I can't remember if I told you this, but I had a moment in June when I was in tears because Grant didn't have any winter clothes. I prompted went to Gymboree and bought most of their winter back stock. I. Was. Crazy.

  7. Make the watermelon and poptarts into strawberries and mint chocolate chip ice cream and I'm there! I have definitely begun to nest but its only so noticeable because I never get the urge or want to clean - I just didn't get the gene. My husband says that if nesting was a symptom all 40 weeks then he'd make sure I was pregnant all the time haha Oh and the instinct to nest is only on the weekends, I'm just too tired during the week!

  12. Hehe, hilarious :)

Hope the nesting bugs hits ya but if not sitting in the couch, watching reality TV and eating poptarts sounds a lot more appealing ;)

Few more days, ahh! You look fabulous!

  13. Ha! This is so funny. You do read a lot about nesting moms to be, but I think it's perfectly acceptable to want to eat donuts :)

  14. Sit on your couch girl! Take a nap for me because in a few weeks you can't nap when you want and you can't sleep through the night without your boobs leaking. But oh so worth it!! Praying for you!!!

  15. You are just adorable! We must just be in pregnancy sync because I just posted mentioning doughnuts as well! haha. And I didn't really nest but truth be told- most babies sleep so much the first few weeks, I really felt like I could get everything done! And if you can't- oh well, who cares? You have a little angel to take care of! GOOD LUCK!

  16. I've been on this every other day nesting kind of kick since Friday. One day I'll be kicking butt knocking out drawers, laundry, organizing, etc and then the next I literally lay in my bed all day doing nothing! Hey, soon you'll be plenty busy so I think you should take full advantage of relaxing and laying around!

  17. i didn't really ever get the "nesting bug" and i was fine without it. haha i was much more like you in that i was content to read, relax, or watch netflix :) so excited for you to join motherhood.. it's amazing!!

  19. I think that's the same skirt I just bought, only in blue and green!

That's scary to think that nesting doesn't happy for everyone. Poptarts sound good though:)

  20. haha you are just like I was! I totally didn't want to do any "nesting".. just enjoy all the last of endless "me" time while I still could! I think i watched 3 or 4 tv series in 2 weeks and took advantage of my swollen feet. I love that you're also craving the same things.. watermelon, pop tarts and reality tv! ;) just enjoy all the rest of your "you" time!

  22. give yourself a break momma :) It will all come together!! You look adorable.

  23. I was just like you! Sleeping sounded so much better than nesting! There was one day where I scrubbed down our couches, and that was the extent of my "nesting."
Relax and sleep all you can!!

  24. My nesting this time around involved baking and stocking the freezer. No such luck with cleaning and organising! Enjoy the downtime I say and the donut.

  25. I didn't do much traditional 'nesting' either, but I did feel the need to stay as close to home as I could in those last few weeks. It was like I was 'cocooning'instead of 'nesting'.
Just do what your body, heart and baby tells you to do, and if that involves donuts and tv, go for it!

  26. I don't think nesting happened every time.

With Fin, I freaked out about dirt poisoning and began frantically dusting everything in our house. (It was an OLD house).

With Maddie, I never really got it.

With Owen, I just got it towards HIS stuff. I just got really eager to start washing baby clothes and putting them away but it was too early in the pregnancy, I knew I'd be bored later on if I did it all at like 24 weeks!

  27. With my son (my oldest) I really went to town on his room and all the new baby stuff, but I think it was more excitement than nesting. Then, with my daughter, I really didn't have any desire to do anything but sleep. I don't think it happens for everyone either.

  28. Sitting on the couch and watching reality sounds pretty darn good. I think I'll always rather do that than clean and organize! Ahhh only a week left!?! Eeek! :)

  31. Yeah I heard nesting gets pretty bad, but maybe it's kind of nice night to have another million things running through your brain along with baby anticipation. And I am taking notes, because I am definitely taking a page from your adorable maternity style!! :)

  32. haha i think 99.9999% of my posts are about nothing so i think you are doing just fine with your posts about pregnancy- they are always interesting to me!

  33. yeap, that was me with my first pregnancy...I kept waiting (so was my husband, ha!) but it never came...ahh well....maybe this time around!

    You look fab!

  34. I never really got the nesting bug either. I did do some baking beforehand so I had muffins and stuff for the wee hours of the morning but no major cleaning or organizing was done.

  35. I feel like you've got the right attitude. Sit around now because it will be hard to do that once the little one arrives! :-)

  36. I feel like if I was 39 weeks pregnant, ALL I would be doing is sitting on the couch, watching lots of TV and definitely eating donuts/icecream...so don't feel bad and just do it girlfriend :)

  37. haha love this. if it makes you feel better it does really matter if you nest.lol. my middle was born 6 weeks early...we had no clothes. the nursery was barely together. no diapers. no hospital bags packed...you get the point. we were just fine we had plenty of time after he was born to do it. babies sleep a lot and it is much easier to nest when you can breath and bend over :)
