The night times have definitely been the most stressful part of my day since having Addilyn. She would much prefer to be held all night. Which is why I am so thankful for my dad. The last three Saturday nights he's come over to my house around 11 and just stays in our living room holding Addilyn. She doesn't seem to care to sleep before midnight so he holds her until she falls sleep, stays with her and then brings her into me when she needs to eat. He even changes her diaper, gets her swaddled up again and puts her back to sleep and stays till about 4 or 5 in the morning.
He is like the baby whisperer. I jokingly called him my night nurse after the first time and I only wish that he was there every night! It has definitely been a huge blessing to get a few good hours of sleep and not have to worry if she is happy and being taken care of.

Happy Wednesday!
What a very sweet Dad you have! I learned that ANYTIME someone wanted to give me a break and take over, I let them. My daughter had colic and would just cry and cry. When we stayed at my in-laws house, my mother-in-law volunteered to sit up and rock her while we slept. She was very helpful and I will never forget it.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous dad! Its too bad that I don't live closer to you. I actually am a baby nurse who left my beloved job to work in our family business. I would love nothing more than to rock your sweet baby at night. Be blessed! Susan
ReplyDeleteI'm pregnant so I don't feel bad admitting this, but hearing this story about your dad just made tears stream down my face for a good 5 minutes. It is so sweet. Not only because he loves you so much to give you rest, but that he loves his grandbaby so much he wants to spend those wee hours of the night just holding her close to him. I don't know why I got so emotional...hormones I"m sure, but my parents live 14 hours away and I know my dad won't be able to have those moments - at least not often. You are so blessed and so is he and so is Addilyn. I love this.
ReplyDeleteThat is so sweet of your Dad!! I only hope that I live closer to my parents by the time that my husband and I start having babies!

ReplyDeleteLove ure outfit! How sweet is ure dad? That's so special for all of you.
ReplyDeleteThat's so awesome that he's there to help you out! I and two of my siblings were in our teens by the time our youngest sister was born--she was an extremely fussy at night baby and my Mom had a difficult recovery back to health--so it was a family project to take care of baby Sarah at night, with us older kids taking shifts, too!
ReplyDeleteYour dad is amazing!!!! Oh my goodness. It really is incredible what a few hours of sleep can do for you. So glad he's there to help!
ReplyDeleteYour dad = awesome!
ReplyDeleteReading back on your posts, I swear we have the same child! Grace also wouldn't sleep anywhere but in arms her first few weeks and my father in law did the same thing- he came over and just held Grace and rocked her until it was time for her to eat again.
