. . . for Lauren and Lauren

I'd rather

shirt, skirt & shoes: target

First of all please ignore our incredibly dead grass, as well as my bra strap - opps.

As I mentioned last week in my fears post, I am afraid of the dentist.
I even take pretty good care of my teeth, but they don't care and always have some sort of problem every time I go.
I should be too embarrassed to admit this but once I even had 8 cavaties at one time.

Well the dreaded time has come and I will be going to to the dentist on Friday.

Due to the sad fact that I think about it a lot, here is a list of
things I'd rather do than go to the dentist:

Pull the weeds in my parents' pasture in the middle of summer with mosquitos surronding me.

Go to the gynecologist multiple times.

Listen to Carol of the Bells on repeat all. day. long.

Vacuum my stairs every day for two weeks.

Go to work on a Saturday.

Play chess for many hours.

Eat a jar of olives.

Watch 4 episodes of South Park.

Doubtful, but am hoping for a good report on Friday.

High Five for Friday

 dress: old navy  shoes: payless

1.  I got some great deals at Old Navy this week.  Thanks to a 40% off coupon I bought this dress for $8.
I also got a sweet pair of wedges for $4 and a sailboat shirt for $3.
I'm sure I'll be sharing them next week!

2. New hat and new sunglasses.
I think I look way cooler than I probably should feel in this picture.
Please don't tell me otherwise.  I rarely feel cool.

3.  Things don't always turn out.
First time - success.  Second time - fail.

Baking failures like this used to make me cry.  Maybe I'm growing up!
And let's not even talk about how desperately I need a new baking pan.

4.  I finally feel like I had a fun week of summer.
After a really rough June, it was nice to relax and actually do things.
I spent Wednesday in Lake Geneva and had such a great time.

Sunglasses, fedora hat and a boat?  Seriously, this may be the coolest I've felt.

5.  Was that an appropriate use of a hashtag? I still don't really understand twitter.
But want to follow me anyways?

@4laurenlauren

That might actually make me feel cool too.

Hope you have a great weekend!

It's OK

dress: target  shoes: payless

It's OK that this dress is most likely a beach cover-up but I wear it as a real dress.
It's OK that when I wore this on vacation in Mexico,
I sat next to a woman in her 50's wearing the same dress.

 shirt: target  skirt: Old Navy

It's OK that I feel like I belong on the set of Little House on the Prairie in this skirt.
I can't decide if I should keep it. Be honest.
A little too Laura Ingalls Wilder?

It's OK that I had a dream the other day that I had a meeting with my students' parents to wrap up the school year and at the end, one of them stood up and said that I was the best teacher in the world and then everyone clapped and cheered.
Wishful thinking.

It's OK that my toes currently look like this:

It's OK that I heard an Avril Lavigne song on the radio the other day and realized that was the first and one of the only CDs I've ever purchased.

It's OK that I was at the store Discovery the other day and the fact that you can't try on their clothes didn't stop me from trying to put a romper on under the dress I was wearing.
Flashing your underwear to an employee = NOT OK.

Dear Lauren,

dress: shabby apple   belt: discovery  bracelets: target

Thank you for helping me pick out this dress from the gift card I won for Shabby Apple.
I love that this dress feels like a cotton robe, which is extremely comfortable.  I don't like that this dress clings to every ounce of me and due to the wrap dress and high slit, I feel like I could have a wardrobe malfunction easily.

Thank you for your fashion advice even from far away.

I do wonder where your styling help was when I was little.  I found this picture of me the other day and am really wondering what is going on with my bangs that take up half my head.

But I do have to say I would probably still wear this dress if I had it and if it fit me.

The other day when I was playing scrabble I could almost spell your least favorite word: factoid.
I took a picture just for you.

Not that I really need the reminder, but your recent health scare gave me a good reminder of how much I love you and need you as my best friend.
You are one of the greatest blessings in my life Lauren Kay!
I love you!

Love,

Fears

dress: ?  shoes: gap

Overall I don't think I am a fearful person, but I do have my handful of things I'm afraid of,
some irrational and some more legitimate.

bees

the song Carol of the Bells

sleeping at my house alone

scary movies

running by myself in a forest preserve

not being able to have my own children

the dentist

driving at night while it's raining

What are some of your fears? rational or not?
