Just a few

I haven't really made resolutions the last many years but wanted to this year.  I love making lists and love having goals and think it would be helpful to pick a handful of things I hope to work on this year.  I already wrote out a word for the year and learning how to relax is something I want to focus on.  But here are a few other things I hope to accomplish this year:

To be more disciplined with quiet times.  Before Addilyn was born I'd wake up pretty early before having to get ready for work and read my Bible or journal.  While I wasn't always consistent I did it much more regularly than I do now.  I pray often these days, during middle of the night feedings or when I'm napping with Addilyn, but I have read my Bible so few times in the last five months and want to change that.

Get  back in shape. I want to get back into my pre-pregnancy shape and would love to eventually get back to the weight I was before I starting all of our hormone treatments a few years ago.  I am working on eating less sweets and still trying to work out at least three times a week.  I really miss feeling strong and in shape.

Run a race.  I haven't decided yet if I'm going to sign up for the Chicago marathon but if I don't do that one then I want to at least do a half marathon this summer.

Stop comparing.  I struggle with comparing myself to others, my mothering, my baby, my blog and in general need to work on not being jealous and being content and confident in who I am and all the things God has given me.

Thankful project. I'm really good at being thankful during the month of November and I love that Chris and I have a poster that we write on each year.  I want to make something that we put in Addilyn's room and we write down one thing we're thankful for each day.

Be more intentional.  I want to be more intentional with my free time, with my time with Chris and in my friendships.  I want to continue to work on initiating things with friends.  I want to not always be on my phone or computer when Chris and I are together.

Not I just need to reread this often and make an effort to work on them!  Cheers to a new year!

  1. A marathon?! That would be such a huge goal but how amazing would it be to complete one. I hate running but always wondered what it must feel like to actually do it.

  3. intention is something I'm working on too. I have no doubt you'll get back to your pre-pregnancy weight if not better, just remember every time you mess up doesn't mean you have to start over- give yourself lee-way!

Also I have those same shoes you're wearing in navy - love 'em! Your outfit is super cute!

  5. I agree with you on the being more intentional goal. I have such a bad habit of checking social media whenever I'm with Andrew and I'm really trying hard not to! I'm with you on the getting back in shape too! I'm really hoping to run at least a couple 5k's this summer if not more. I just need this baby out so I can start exercising again!

  6. Love that top! My active project for this year is to learn to kayak, and I am quite terrified! Good luck with your marathon.

  7. These are great resolutions. I'm still working on the last of my baby weight, and it is hard working out on so little sleep! I also love your resolution to be more intentional. We need to work on that, too.

  8. You can totally do all of them- I have faith in you. For your little gratitude project, you might like to make a mason jar for the "Best Moments of 2014" and write them down on slips of paper throughout the year. It's so rewarding when you open it up at the end of year :)

  10. These are all great goals! I am working on a couple of them myself! Getting back into pre-baby shape is so tough. I am still working on it and Ben is almost 17 months! Ha! Running a marathon would be so amazing. Good luck!

  15. Great ideas! I especially connect with the "stop comparing." I do that daily and it always leaves me feeling unsastified and not content. So you'd think I'd have learned already that it does me no good! Thanks for the extra motivation this morning...I haven't made my "new year's list" and this will definitely go on mine! =)

  17. I love your resolutions! I also had a baby girl in July and I'm facing some of the same things. It is difficult to find a quiet time to read the Bible (since I want to sleep in as late as our girl does!) and I also struggle with my 'new' body. It's hard to always feel motivated to work out, even though when I do it feels so good!

  19. love your list and goals! Making time to read my bible was a huge task when I first started having kids...I usually did it during bath time...the kids are confined and I HAD to sit in the bathroom with them...it sort of forced my hand. :)
