. . . for Lauren and Lauren

and why I may never wear pants again

vest: tjmaxx    shirt: old navy    pants: walmart   boots: discovery

I know that I've talked about these "pants" a few times before so I apologize for sounding like a broken record.  I'm not quite sure I can call them pants because they are technically jeggings, and while I don't love that word I love these pants. This would be pair number three that I own and I'm pretty sure because of them I may never wear real pants again.  I'm also pretty sure I will be buying pair number four and maybe even five.

Unfortunately my first two pairs were under $10 and Walmart must have known that everyone that buys one pair of these is going to come back and by ten more so they raised their price to $12.  Those two extra dollars.  Still completely worth it.

I tried to take a picture of the back of these to prove that they look like real pants but every picture was extremely awkward looking.  I don't know how any of you manage to take a "normal" looking picture of your backside.  And I guarantee I was still smiling in each one of them.

Now get yourself to Walmart and purchase a pair or four.

clown boots and ugly owls

sweatshirt: c/o choies   jeans: kohls   boots: justfab.com

I know I've shared my love and obsession with all things animal print, even when I don't know what animal it is.  While elephants seem to be my favorite, I am starting to have a unhealthy obsession with wanting everything owl printed.  And the gawdier the owl the better.  I already own this necklace, which may be borderline ugly.  But I picked out this sweater from choies.com and while it is a little flashly with all its bling, I love it.

I recently bought these ankle boots from justfab (for only $20) after Sybil wore hers.  And I should've listened to her advice to buy a size smaller, but I'm always worried my feet won't fit.  Instead I ended up with shoes that are a little to big and I feel like they make me look like I have clown feet.

I know I could return them but that seems too hard, and I of course fear the next size would be too small.  So clown feet and ugly sweaters for the win today.

Fall for Target + a giftcard for you

I recently shared how buying wedding gifts for couples can be fun when you try to get things that fit their different personalities, aligning with the new Target theme "Be Yourself, Together."

When it comes to planning a wedding I'm kind of glad pinterest and blogs were not a part of my life, as I think I would have gone a little crazy trying to do lots of projects and have these amazing pre-wedding parties, like an engagement party or bridal shower.

However that doesn't mean that I couldn't throw someone an amazing pre-wedding party now!  With the fall season here, I would love to throw a bridal shower that fits the personality of both the bride and groom.  I think a Fall theme would be perfect because it's not super girly so it'd appeal more to the groom, but would have lots of cute touches that I'm sure any bride would love.

I of course went to pinterest for some inspiration and found a few ideas that I would incorporate into my party:

One of the things that I would want is to make my house a little more fallish and buy a few things to help it looks a little more appealing for my guests!  We all know that Target is the perfect place shop for just about anything, from buying the bride and groom a gift from their registry to buying a few things for yourself! I found a few things from Target that, while small, made a difference in the decor and appearance of my house.

I got some new fall pillows for my couch, a few hand towels and these cute little fall salt and pepper shakers.

After looking through Target's wedding catalog, I'd love to use these cute canisters for tea and this tiered pedestal serving platter for cupcakes (where I'd add those cute little cupcake toppers).

I know I use any excuse to make a trip to Target and getting ready for any kind of shower or party is the perfect reason.  And one of you gets to have a great excuse to make a trip to Target as someone gets to win a $25 giftcard.  Just leave a comment telling me which item from Target's wedding catalog would be a good fit for my fall theme bridal shower.

Twenty Nine

top: loft    pants: old navy  shoes:?

This weekend I celebrated my twenty ninth birthday.  Weekend birthdays are the best because you pretty much get to declare the whole weekend your birthday.  And since I'm not celebrating it with my family until tomorrow night I'm extending it another day.

My birthday consisted of a free meal at Noodles and Company with Chris and Addilyn. Movie watching of my choice, chocolate chip waffles, a walk in the forest preserve and our first dinner date without Addilyn.

And apparently another year older still does not make me old enough to iron my ever so wrinkly clothes.

I can imagine that this next year of my life will be a year of the least amount of sleep I've gotten, the biggest role change and a lot of second guessing and learning.  But I am also quite sure it is going to be the most joyful, exciting and best year I'll have had yet!

Hope you had a great weekend too!

A Secret Language

While I'm not a fan or believer of horoscopes or astrology, I am interested in reading about personalities and how they correspond to different people.  It was fun to try out The Secret Language site and see what it said about my personality and a few others I tried.  The information doesn't come from astrology, but comes from a 40 year study of more than 20,000 people organized by their birthdays, and reveals one's natural identity.

After putting in my birthday the site gave me a list of personality characteristics, advice, as well as people born on this day.  (Which thanks to my love of Friends, I already knew I shared a birthday with David Schwimmer)

I wasn't surprised that I agreed with some of the things, like wanting to control or change things or having a hard time not taking things seriously, and disagreed with some others like enjoying change or being adaptable.

I wanted to look up someone else and thought I should check out both Lauren and Lauren.  Some traits of my sister Lauren were strong minded and outgoing, which I agree with.  It also said those on that birthday are emotional and at times act emotionally immature.  (Don't worry Lauren - I think you're emotional but not immature.)  Of course I like the birthday sharing part, and Lauren shares a birthday with Natalie Portman.

Sister in law Lauren shares a birthday with Shia LaBeouf and is considered a limit pusher. It said these people are workaholics, which I'm not sure even Lauren would agree with that!  The major one I agree with for Lauren is that these people are highly competitive.  This certainly fits since Lauren cried the first time she played a game with my family because she wasn't winning.  (Which I have to say made my family love her even more since she wasn't afraid to show us her true competitive self.  Plus it made us all laugh).

My favorite part was looking up our relationship when I put in both my birthday and Chris'.  It's funny because it said our relationships was ideal for family but problematic for love.  Hmmmm. . . . guess we'll have to work on that one.  It said this relationship is so close that we may know what each other is thinking without even saying it.  Seeing as we've been together for over 13 years that one is often true.

While there are many things that aren't true, I definitely found somethings that did fit our personalities.  But more than anything it was just fun to look up myself and a few others to find our Secret Language Name. And while you're on their site you can also watch a video of Taylor Swift and her love for the Secret Language birthday book and how accurate it was!
