. . . for Lauren and Lauren: This week . . .

February 18, 2015

This week . . .

cardigan: walmart    jeans: gap   tee & shoes: old navy   scarf: discovery

It appears it's that ever rotating time where I question what the purpose of this blog is.  I don't even know if there's any point of sharing my outfit photos these days.  Clearly sharing my tee, cardigan and scarf takes no fashion genius and I just wonder if it's a waste of time.  If anything perhaps to show other stay at home moms they aren't alone in their borderline boring fashion choices on the few days they choose to get dressed for real?  But do I really need pictures to prove that?

Chris and I started reading the book Love Does together.  I'm excited to do something other than watch tv with our time together.  One of my favorite things about Chris is his generous and joyful personality and I hope this book helps stir some more of that in me.

I realize we've probably held on to two naps longer than most, but it's worked and I'm having a hard time transitioning to one nap, as is Addilyn.  Some days she takes two great naps and others won't fall asleep for one of them or has a hard time going down at night so I think it's time.  But she is so stinkin tired and crabby by 11 then the same in the evening.  I think I may just need to suck it up and commit to one nap and get it over with but it's hard!

We've made huge progress this month in Addilyn's sleep, and while she's still waking up some I haven't been nursing her during the night and we're doing well.  I am thrilled about it! Now to work on the day time, which is hard.  She's so vocal and when we're stuck inside and bored all day I think she'd be happy nursing a million times.  I'm not quite sure how to work on that, but more so worried about the night time nursing since it's so much part of our routine.  While I have mixed feelings, I would like to be done nursing for good in the next few months.

The last week I have just been in a funk.  Emotionally, physically, I'm just not feeling great.  I don't know if it's coming off a really encouraging weekend two weeks ago and having a hard time processing all that and applying it or if it's the awful cold weather and early mornings with Addilyn.  Whatever it is I need out!  So here's to a better rest of the week, weekend and hopefully a continued better attitude!

You sound like me! On the very rare days that I do dress I'm wearing a tank (or a tee), cardigan, jeans and boots. And yes, it was really hard for me to give in to just one nap. But I found that Kendall is actually even MORE consistent with her nap length than she was before. She's always been a good night sleeper, but her naps were always hit or miss. But now that she just takes one nap it is always 2 hours (sometimes longer!!!). So hopefully that makes you feel a little bit better about dropping a nap. Praying that happens for Addilyn!

My husband and I are beginning a marriage book together as well. I'm pretty eager to start.

Lucky about two naps! My first son transitioned to one at 18 months and my second transitioned at 15 months! Ouch. 2 to 1 nap isn't as hard as the point where they decide they're done napping altogether, if that's any consolation. LOL!

I have that book on my shelf, among many others :) It's on the top of my list, though! I'd love to know what you think of it. You'll get all the nursing and sleeping figured out. Mothering is often a trial and error process. :)

Oh man girl. I feel you, last week was a doozy and while this week is somewhat better, it's still hard. Winter in the Midwest with toddlers is no joke. I think everyone is ready for a break in the temps and some sun!!!
Also, we had a tough time transitioning too!!! It definitely wasn't just a one and done thing. My advice is try to be flexible and accommodate two naps but don't force it if it's not happening, just try to move to one and slowly edge the time later and later. Also there is hope!! While my Addy still is a difficult sleeper, once we got to one nap that was the first time I ever really felt like we had a great, consistent schedule and she seemed to do well once we got it down. Good luck!

I don't know how you have kept up nursing this long! I never lasted more than 9 months before needing my body back. Personally I love this outfit but then again I am a huge fan of the basics.

I want to read a book with my husband but then I end up reading it and telling him what it's all about. . .
Also transitioning to one nap was a huge for me because i loved that quiet time all to myself. But things change and kids grow so we have to adjust

Praying you will get out of the funk soon!

HAPPY MEDLEY

Before I read your post, I saw the picture & thought "Dang, she looks cute today!". I love your outfit pics! And you are not the only one in a funk. Basically the entire midwest is. Hang in there!!!

I've been fighting Crew going down to one nap like nobody's business! It's rough and I'm not ready for it!

Your cute outfit just keeps me in that Spring season mood! So cute. And hang in there friend...I had a funk period a couple of months ago and I think the weather and other things can play a part. So many great things going on for you guys lately and you are carrying the best attitude. :)

I guess I'm not really sure what kind of genius fashion style you think you *should* be wearing. T-shirt, jeans, cardigan, and scarf is my go-to outfit when I am getting dressed for real! And I'm not a mom. I think you look really cute! :) Don't feel like you have to post outfit photos if you don't want to, but if you do want to, keep doing it! Blogging should be fun first, and if it's not fun then there's really no point in *that*. So make sure you're having fun!

Yay for better sleep! Deciding when to stop bfing was a hard decision! I went back and forth, but Noah made it easy - he was down to one feed a day and just stopped! Easy transition. My reasons for wanting to stop were selfish as we wanted to start up the IF train again.
