. . . for Lauren and Lauren: Opposites eat

Opposites eat

Content and/or other value provided by our partner, Target. All opinions are my own.  #TargetWedding

I know I shared many times that Chris and I couldn't be more different.  In our personalities, our tastes and many of our opinions.  This is even true in the kitchen, although thankfully I've come a long way since our marriage.  I now love fish, sushi and even slightly spicy things thanks to Chris.  If it were up to him everything would be doused in the hottest sauce imaginable.

One time in Mexico he took a taste of hot sauce at some sample store and was honestly squatting in the store, sweating and crying.  Yet said it was delicious.

Speaking of opposites, I'm sure like most men Chris could care less about the set up of Thanksgiving meal and decorations.  I on the other hand love decorating for seasons and special days.  If I could pick something new off of the Target registry to prepare for hosting Thanksgiving dinner I'd pick a new set of dishware, as we still have the ones we got ten years ago.  Chris on the other hand cares way more about the cooking part and would pick a new Calphalon stainless steel pan.

Being opposites we have to compromise a little in terms of cooking.  My speciality is more in the baking department than in the cooking (again, opposite of Chris), but it's hard to find a dessert that we both love.  I often volunteer to bring the dessert, and Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls is perfect because Chris loves the salty peanut butter and I love the sweet chocolate.

recipe and image from six sisters' stuff

Easy Chocolate Peanut Butter Balls
16 oz. peanut butter
3/4 cup butter (softened)
3 3/4 cup powdered sugar
12 oz. chocolate chips (melted)

Mix the peanut butter, brown sugar and powdered sugar together.  Roll into 1 inch balls.  Place the dough in the refrigerator until cool.

To melt your chocolate I've used two pans to make a double boiler, with water on the bottom and the melted chocolate on the top.  Dipping things in melted chocolate stresses me out because I feel like if you don't go fast enough your chocolate will harden, but this way it stays hot and melted the whole time!
Dip the balls into the chocolate and set on wax paper to cool.  Keep in the refrigerator or even the freezer to eat later.  Serve it on a cute fancy new dishes and you're good to go!

Being opposites does make us a good team.   He can cook the main dishes, adding spices to make them tastiers.  I'll bake dessert and set up the table.  All we need is some music playing on a Sonos Play wireless system.  Agreeing on the music may be an issue, but I think I win as Christmas music is a definite must on Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday, mainly because I love baking, cooking, and eating! My favorite Thanksgiving dish is definitely the sweet potato souffle that I make every year. It's practically dessert! (alison.toback@gmail.com)

PS: Those peanut butter balls look amazing, and I definitely plan on trying them out!

My husband and I are also opposites in the kitchen, haha!

My favorite Thanksgiving dish is stuffing, which is funny because that's what takes the least amount of effort (I make boxed stuffing). This year I'm making a pumpkin cheesecake with gingersnap crust. Seriously, I'd be a happy camper with just those two things LOL

Hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving!!

Hi Katie,
I'm so excited for thanksgiving this year! It's the first holiday in our new home and first major holiday with our newborn nephew William. My favorite dish to eat on Thanksgiving is mashed potatoes with gravy. Enjoy your family this holiday.

Chocolate and peanut butter is my favorite combo! I will be making these soon!! For Thanksgiving, I love stuffing. A few years ago I started making a stuffing with Italian sausage, apples and cranberries. It is now a family favorite. Will be making it again this year :)

I love Thanksgiving so much! My favorite dish is probably green bean casserole, but alas, no one else really likes it so I'm not making it this year.

Those look really yummy except I'm allergic to peanutbutter but I'm sure I can do that with soybutter! And looks really simple and I need simple!
