. . . for Lauren and Lauren: Giving thanks

November 5, 2012

Giving thanks

sweater: kohls  skirt: target   bracelet: francesca's

First off, I have to say that this outfit may as well be pajamas. Ridiculously comfortable.

Secondly, I wish all the time my hair could do a top knot or high bun. This is the best I've got. A tiny nub on the back of my head.  Someone help me.

And thirdly, I wanted to share one of my favorite recent traditions.
Two years ago Chris started a tradition that I hope we do every year for the rest of our lives.
During the month of November we put out a big piece of paper on our banister by our stairs.

Throughout the month we write different things we're thankful for. Big things. Little things. Everything.

It's a great reminder that God has given us so many blessings and is a daily reminder that He has given us far more than we will ever deserve.

Starting this year's list of with these things:

A new recipe.  (pumpkin chocolate chip bread)

Dinner out with Chris this weekend.

Coffee on a Sunday morning.

A family that I couldn't be more thankful for.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
James 1:17

What are a few things on your list this year?

I love your thankful banner! Such a great idea. You've got me thinking about where I could do this in my home with my family :)
And a top knot/bun...I'm so unsuccessful with that too. No matter how long my hair gets it's just too thin. So I'm owning the low pony hairdo!

I think that's a tradition we may need to steal.
The outfit I'm posting tomorrow was my "pajama-like" outfit from last week!
Great minds think alike.

What a great idea! Sometimes you can forget the little things that you should be thankful for, I know I have that problem and have been trying to work on that!

For your hair, have you tried doing the sock bun... it' supposed to make your hair look fuller and give you a bigger bun.

I love the idea of writing down what you are thankful for during the month!! So great to look back on.

Rach said... Best Blogger TipsBest Blogger Templates

I love your tradition! My aunt has a tradition that she pulls out the same table cloth every year and we all write what we are most thankful for that year. So this year I will write what I am thankful for in 2012 and can look back at my little hand writing from over the years and see what I was thankful for then. I love it! :)

I love the hair, the outfit (it does look comfy) and most of all I love your tradition. I have to share this with my husband.

Love the outfit - so comfy and cozy looking. :)
Have you tried the sock bun? It adds great volume. Just use a sock in a similar color to your hair. It works great. :)
Love the thankful spot. I really want to do something similar with the kiddo. :-)
And I am so greatful for my family and especially our current church family.
