. . . for Lauren and Lauren: Ups and Downs

Ups and Downs

blouse: c/o so kate   necklace: groopdealz   shoes: kohls (recent clearance $8)

Ups
This blouse from the online boutique So Kate.  There are so many cute clothes that I had a hard time picking out one thing! I would also like to own this polka dot blazer or this floral necklace.
We made it through our first trip to a store alone last week.  I was nervous the whole time that Addilyn would start crying, but she slept the whole time.  She must love Target.  Thank goodness.
I usually do not do anything cute or impressive with my nails, unlike my sister Lauren.  But I tried out the new Sally Hansen fuzzy nail polish and loved it.  Read more about it, as well as my tutorial for my nails here!
I got through the one day of work that I had to go to for a long time.  I left Addilyn home with Chris for the morning half and picked her up at lunch to come back with me for the afternoon.  I missed her like crazy and couldn't not think about what she was doing every minute.  Thankfully Chris did great with her!
I've made a few desserts since Addilyn was born, and finally made a real dinner last week.  I'm looking forward to getting into a routine of cooking again, as it's been quite a long time since I wanted to make dinner.  Like over 9 months a long time.  Now if someone would just do the grocery shopping part for me.
Blogging friends.  My friend Maria sent this sweet card and book all the way from Holland!  I am continually amazed at the thoughtful and amazing woman I've met through blogging who have prayed for me and encouraged me this last year and a half.

Downs
The bachlorette is over.  I didn't even like this season but am a loyal fan and will probably watch it no matter what.  And so I miss it.  Hurry on up Fall shows.
Nighttime.  It stresses me out.  Sometimes a lot. I struggle between the idea of starting some kind of schedule and just letting her do own thing for now as she is still so little.  Sometimes I find reading about it and hearing what others are doing helpful, but sometimes it stresses me out more.
Alone time with Chris not happening.  Working through this major transition has had its challenges as eight years of marriage has made us very used to plenty of time alone together.  I'm absolutely loving that we are now a family of three and realizing that this is a season of life we are in and we'll just have to work harder to work on our marriage.
While she does look happy here, I know Molly is struggling to adjust to life with a baby in our house.  Inevitably the amount of attention she gets has definitely decreased and I feel sad for her.  Hopefully once Addilyn requires a little less attention and we get into more of a routine, I'll be able to love on Molly some more!

I went to Kohls with my mom last weekend and Addilyn had a huge spit up/throw up disaster.  It was all over her onsie, carseat, stroller - everywhere.  And it just kept coming.  I felt so bad and was SO glad my mom was with me to help.

What was the best part and worst part of your week last week?

You are doing great! You will figure out a routine soon enough. Oh, and I sooo know the whole throw up thing. My oldest had severe reflux. We never went anywhere without a change of clothes for the BOTH of us!!

Such a cute post.

It'll get better...I mean, that's what *they* say right? :) I'm going through this with a puppy...it's totally not the same. But it's probably not entirely different either...The entire first 2 weeks we had him, Scott and I barely looked at each other because we were so busy with the dog.

That top is adorable. Your night time routine will come. What works for me or someone else won't always work for you. Just make sure you are comfortable with it because in the end no one can be a better mom to Addy than you.

Oh my gosh I do not think one can ever prepare themselves for baby throw up. Love the outfit! Super cute, as always.

Night times were the worst for me when my wee one was that age too (now 6 months). At the time it feels like forever but it does change and they do get better. I also found it hard not having as much time with hubby but you readjust and make the most of people who want to look after her even if for half an hour so you can get a coffee together :) You are doing a wonderful job, such a great mother!

You are doing a beautiful job! I have three kids, and I really struggled with nights because a) I am a person who needs at least 5 hours of sleep to [barely] function, and b) my husband works nights- 11p to 7a. I found that for my own sanity I needed a schedule. We loosely followed Babywise and it worked for us. But you need to find what works for you and sweet Addilyn. As far as dating your hubby, see if he wants to make grocery shopping your date. My guess is that it might be more tolerable if he goes along.

Give yourselves time to adjust....and go on lots of family dates! Alone time will come!!

Keep me posted on the sleep stuff, I'm ALREADY worried about it!

You are so welcome, Katie! I hope she'll enjoy the book!

The sleeping will get better, as will the alone time with Chris. Addilyn's only a month old, don't forget that!

I remember when Micha was born, I thought we'd never sleep again and that we would never have an evening to ourselves again, but you know what? We are sleeping again, and most evenings are all to ourselves!

Whenever I get overwhelmed I always say to myself: 'it will get better', and it always does!

Hang in there, friend!

I'm glad I am not the only one struggling with this whole when I do I try to implement a baby schedule! Also, I can totally relate to the dog situation. Our one doxie is very curious and rowdy and the other day I looked at her and creid bc I feel like all I have been doing is yelling at her lately "don't do this" and "don't do that!" For ten years she was our baby and she probably doesn't understand the lack of attention! Makes me sad.

You are looking great!!

We have Target now but these deals that you keep finding are not making their way to my area at all. Hopefully it gets better overtime as it's a bit disappointing right now.

Yes, alone time is hard to come by with a newborn. Soon you will be able to go on date nights and you will cherish those times.

We didn't do anything with sleep until A was at least 4 months old. It was tough but I'm glad I waited that long to try anything. Unfortunately she still isn't a great sleeper :(

Oh I don't miss the spit ups/poopsplosions! I used to carry at least 2-3 outfits with me during the early days.

You will get the hang of going out soon enough. It does get better- until they get more active and they don't want to be restrained anymore!

Our fur-babies had to make the transition once we brought our little man home. It took some time, but I'm pretty sure everyone is back to their normal, happy selves!

I really love that top!

...and now I am scared that our decision to ensure that we were really established as husband and wife (even though we have been together for 8yrs) will make things harder when kids come into play. Doh!

Susannah said... Best Blogger TipsBest Blogger Templates

I'm glad the little one likes Target. She is already showing how wise she is. ;-) And I'm so sorry that you and Chris aren't getting the time together that you need. I'm sure this is just a season and you two will figure it out soon!

Kelly said... Best Blogger TipsBest Blogger Templates

Glad to hear life is slowly adjusting back to normal and that your little girl loves Target as much as you do!

so i'm about 8 months pregnant now, and i already think about a lot of these things....like going out by myself with baby girl, or adjusting to not having all that alone time with husband, or my poor pup adjusting to life with a new center of attention in town (i'm seriously worried about that one!)

glad to hear i'm not the only one :) and that it's doable..

I had the same nighttime stresses when my first was born... i DREADED night time!!! i had it with my second too but not quite as bad.... soon you will find your rhythm... the kicker is that you have to do it together :) good luck!!

Laura said... Best Blogger TipsBest Blogger Templates

Thanks for sharing the good with the bad! It's nice to hear that the real life perspective that it's not all wonderful but it's also not all horrible. The good outweighs the bad I'm sure :) You are looking so great by the way! I'm amazed at how well you bounced back to your normal body!

At least the downs weren't too terrible and I would be SO happy to have my mom there in a situation like that!
