. . . for Lauren and Lauren: Motherhood has made me dramatic

August 11, 2013

Motherhood has made me dramatic

shorts and tee: old navy   sandals:asos

First thing.  I realize this outfit isn't all to exciting.  But it's exciting to me because I wore something other than work out shorts for at least four hours today.  Plus I got these shorts for under $5.  Double win.

Now that that's out of the way . . .

I have never considered myself to be a dramatic person.  Chris on the only other hand is dramatic.  I've written about it before but he'll often make statements that something is the best thing he's ever tasted, or the funniest thing he's ever seen or the sickest he's ever been.

I do think that motherhood has made me a little dramatic.  I find myself making quite exaggerated statements but really believing them.  For example . . .

While I was going through labor I honestly thought I will never go through labor again.  I want more kids but will figure out another way to get them here.

After I had her I can't even express how gross and uncomfortable and in pain I felt.  I truly honestly thought that I will never walk again.  And the thought of going to the bathroom, seriously made me cry.  (I was tempted to write a post about post baby recovery but don't think my blog is the kind to share that kind of disturbing, personal details like that.)

Once I was home with Addilyn I think often how I will never sleep again.  I've always been a very poor sleeper but this has taken that to a whole new level.  I saw this on pinterest but think it should just say "you will never sleep again".

Thankfully the first two have passed and I realize how dramatic they sound.  The last one though.  I still believe to be truth.

First of all, you look FAB. Are you sure you just had a baby?! And I thought all of those things too and here I am pregnant with number 2. I'm starting to stress out a little more now because I know what's to come haha

Hang in there mama... I promise it gets easier!

It gets better! Too much better, to the point that you end up with the crazy idea of having more babies!

I really hope that last one isn't true! My 8 week old daughter lets me sleep about 3 days a week, but I'm looking forward to eventually getting sleep again.
One more dramatic thing I would add to your list - my baby is the cutest baby ever. C'mon, as moms, we all think that of our own child. ;)

I think after 9 months plus labor you deserve to be a little dramatic my friend. :)

I think dramatic comes with the job of mom.

First off...I think this really is a cute outfit. Cute and comfy...the best kind of outfits. You have every right to be "dramatic"...and it sounds like you're not even that dramatic :-)

What a deal on the shorts! I think we all get a little dramatic sometimes, you will sleep again. I promise :)

I freaken LOVE reading your blog! I do not have a baby yet- we are "trying" but love reading all about your thoughts/emotions etc throughout this whole baby experience! I feel like I know you, & wish I did so I could come over & watch her while you took a nap! And you look amazing-seriously did you really just have a baby!?!? :))

I never thought about having to go to the bathroom! I would be scared too! Oh gosh. I'm scared just thinking about it. Also, you look great! Really great, Katie :)

HA! I saw that same pin shortly after I had Marcus, and I agree with you... "Never Sleep Again" seems more appropriate.

Yikes...labor sounds terrifying, and so does all that after stuff! Glad those moments have passed...but I can't imagine what it must be like to feel like you'll never sleep again :( At least you have a gorgeous little baby girl to make up for it!

I can't believe you just had a baby, you look fabulous! And I'm gearing up to pop my little one out, your blog has been very helpful in gearing me up for what's to come!!!

Oh Katie -- thank you for this post :-) I love the never sleeping in again picture. It's so true!

And as for how your lady bits, and the rest of your body, feel after labor -- I hear ya! No one ever really expresses how terrible all that feels. Thankfully, we quickly forget, which I think is God's plan for sure.

Very cute outfit :-) It was challenging for me to find outfits that I was comfortable in, felt good in, and most importantly, could nurse in. I miss my dresses :-( But I have found a few criss-cross in the front dresses that I can pull to the side.

The anchor print shorts are adorable! If I don't get 9-10 hours of sleep at night, I'm a zombie...I could not deal with the lack of sleep!

I love this outfit because it shows that you don't have to just dress up for your blog... You are just you and that's why we love you and follow you're blog, you're real! And as everyone else said, did you really just have a baby because you look amazing!

How did I miss that pretty Addilyn had already been born? She's gorgeous!! I definitely felt the same as you after having my first. the thought of another painful birth just didn't even come across my radar, but here I am, now a mom of two. Happy to tell you that the second birth was faster, contractions less intense, and somehow the recovery faster too, even though I had some stitches, which I didn't have when my first child was born. Enjoy that baby bundle. Love the name too, Katie!
