Wrong length

winter maternity
winter maternity
dress: c/o shein   scarf: world market   boots: justfab   vest: target

Normally I feel like this  length dress is far from flattering on me because of my short legs, but I guess that all goes out the window when you have a big belly.  Comfort wins and this dress is so comfy! I'm hoping with cute sandals I'll be able to wear it in the summer, although I keep forgetting how much nursing runs your wardrobe, which I'm not looking forward to!  I mean this dress is big enough, he could just fit under there, right? ;)

We don't have many plans this weekend, which I'm super excited about.  Chris has been really busy with work and Addilyn has been sick the last few days so I'm hoping for some solo time this weekend.  Like a trip to Target and some time to figure out what we'll all wear for our maternity pictures next weekend! I also plan on eating cheese fries at least once.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Body Double

sweater: c/o shein   leggings: costco   boots & scarf: dsw

I was watching Keeping up with the Kardashians yesterday and found out when Kim was pregnant she had a body double that would come to her house.  She'd put on a fake baby belly and try on her clothes, then take pictures in them because Kim was too tired to try them all on.

Now the ridiculous thing about that isn't that she was too tired to try on all her clothes.  The other day I wanted to try on some clothes to figure out what to wear for our maternity pictures coming up, and gave up after one pair of pants, a pair of boots and two shirts.  It was seriously hard work and I was tired.

I'm sure that job pays good money which I can't do, but if any wants to come over with a fake belly and try some clothes on for me I'll pay you with fruit snacks and cheese fries.

Also I realize I am wearing leggings as pants.  If I would've had a body double to try it on first that wouldn't have happened.

Another favorite

winter maternity outfit
top: c/o shein  sweater: c/o shein   leggings: gap   boots: zulily

I wore this outfit on Thanksgiving and it's one of my favorite maternity outfits.  I wore this top a handful of times this last spring and summer, and love that I can wear it in the fall and winter, and pregnant.  Loose, flowy and comfortable.  My favorite things.

Hope you all have a great weekend! Happy almost Friday!

How to make your belly look smaller

winter maternity outfit
dress: c/o shein   scarf: ebay  boots: dsw

Want to know how to make your big belly look smaller?  Wear a scarf that looks like it's about to take over your body.  This will help your self esteem, especially after last night.  I decided to take a bath because my body was not feeling great and sadly my belly (or my boobs) didn't even come close to being under water, to which Addilyn thought was hysterical.  She kept running back in the bathroom, standing next to the tub and cracking up.  Glad you think my body is so funny.  Thank you for helping me make my bath so relaxing.

In other news, this sweater is wonderful.  It's non maternity, but super stretchy.  Also love that it's holey, because my overheated pregnant gets hot way too fast!

It's time to cut myself off

sweater & vest: old navy   leggings: gap   boots: just fab

I officially need to cut myself off from going to Old Navy or looking on their website.  Whether for clothes for myself or for Addilyn, I have spent too much money there the last many months!  But their clothes are so cute, comfortable and cheap!  I ordered this maternity sweater online a few weeks ago, along with two other super cute tops.  Each top was under $10, plus I had $10 off for super cash and got free shipping, so really they were almost free.  I got the vest for $18 at the outlet store on our weekend away last month, and have worn it non stop.  I know they had $15 vests the other day and I so badly wanted to get another color but I refrained.  See, I do have some self control?

And I fully intend to wear this, and the other tops I got well after this baby is born so even more worth my money, right?  Also, I may have given up on my quest for really cute maternity jeans. Leggings for the win every day.

Doing lately . . . .

maternity fashion
top: shade maternity (old)   leggings: gap maternity  boots: zulily  vest: c/o shein

Wearing . . . . this green hooded vest which is perfect for cool, rainy days we've had.

Watching . . . Limitless.  Chris and I's new favorite show.  It is soooo good.  We also started Supergirl last night, and I surprisingly was a fan.

Cooking . . . this Thai Chicken crock pot meal (so good and so easy!) and homemade twix bars for girls night this week.

Taking . . . a short nap most days when Addilyn naps.  I swear I had energy for about three days and then back to feeling exhausted all the time.

Making . . . . a mobile for baby boy's room.  I love it and can't wait to finish it!

Looking forward to . . . a girls day and night away this weekend with my mom, aunt and sisters.

Hope you all are having a great week!

Thank you Target lady for making me cry

top: white plum   leggings: gap   boots: old navy   sweater: loft

I feel like there should be a pregnancy or even new mom link up every week called what made me cry this week.  I felt like I had a pretty good hold on my emotions at the beginning of my pregnancy and can barely think of anything that made me cry during those first 12 weeks or so.  This last trimester? I get teary eyed real easily.

Here's a few from the week:

Feeling overwhelmed with things that need to get done.

Sad news from a friend.

A conversation with Chris about me cooking (or lack there of).

Those are all just about validated, but this one not so much.  And I managed to hold myself together and not waste more than a few tears.

Addi and I were walking into Target the other day and I was talking on the phone to my mom while I was trying to get a cart out of the front of the store.  I put Addi down in front of me, between myself and the cart, as she likes to "push" the cart with me.  So we were probably moving a little slower than the normal single shopper, but Addilyn was cooperating just fine.

This lady came up next to me and so, so rudely said "Can you either get off the phone or watch your kid?" With the rudest, meanest look and attitude.  I mumbled something like "Ummmmm... . . . .  My daughter is just fine and right next to me."  To which she said, "Well you've blocked me at least three times."  Which I'm really not sure how that is possible, but either way super rude and I did have to try hard to not cry.

Later in the store we were walking around and I said to Addilyn that I didn't want to run into that lady again and she said "Yeah. She was really, really weird."  Oops.  Not sure where she got that one, but all I could do was laugh and not correct her.

Sweater Weather

grey sweater: c/o shein     tan sweater: c/o shein

I'm so happy we are finally in sweater weather here and there.  We've had a few cooler days, especially the mornings, and I couldn't be happier about it.  I LOVE these two new sweaters and know I will be wearing them a ton. Pockets, comfy, baggy and soft.  Definite fall requirements.  And I can wear them with jeans, dresses, over tank tops . . . .  Plus my growing belly does not get in the way. Win, win, win!

sweater: c/o shein  tunic: c/o shein (a favorite of mine!)   jeans: gap   booties: target

Plus it also means getting out my trusty $7 Target booties.  I remember debating buying them and don't know what I was thinking.  I wear them all the time in the Fall!  Excuse the wrinkles.  Iron, what?

sweater: c/o  shein    tee: old navy

Hope you all have a great weekend! I think the high for Saturday is 65 and Apple Picking is on our agenda, which means apple donuts and apple cider.  I can not wait!

Say what?

skirt: old navy clearance ($5)   sweater: old navy clearance ($5)   scarf: discovery ($7)

I know I've written quite a few times before about how different Chris and I are.  Especially when it comes to his natural happy face or how he is always doing "funny" things and thinks I should be more amused at him.  Remember when I made it my goal to laugh at him more often?

Well I think I'm failing.

But sometimes the things he says I just am not quite sure where they come from.

Like the other day when we were driving in the car he just says,

"What would you do if I told you I was a robot and opened my wrist to show you my battery?"

What?

He then proceeded to talk about it for the next 5 minutes at least and wanted to know if I'd still love him if he wasn't human, along with other questions that he seriously wanted me to consider.

I got incredibly lucky with an amazing husband, but I can't help to find him a little weird at times.

Getting more and more used to looking down and seeing this bump.

Wanting to make this cookie dough that doesn't use raw eggs so I can eat it all.

Watching The Hart of Dixie on Netflix.  It is somewhat satisfying my need for a teen drama.

Thrilled that I don't have to work this week.  I plan on more mornings like this and and afternoons working on things like this:

Thankful that I got to spend Friday night and Saturday with one of my best friends Brittany.  We've been friends since freshman year of college and despite her living in Indiana her friendship is one of the most important to me.

Thankfully both of us have matured a little since college, along with our wardrobe choices.

Loving the gifts she made for our baby girl.  She sells her stuff at a store close to her and on facebook.  She is so talented and I can't wait until our baby girl can wear these.

Happy Tuesday!

Tender Moments

scarf: made my me (tutorial here)    top: shade clothing  skirt: target maternity  leggings: jcpenney

This whole pregnancy journey so far has been quite an emotional one.  From our long road to get here to our scary complications at the start.  There have been many moments where I've been overcome with emotions from fear to excitement.  Thankfully the majority of the overwhelming emotions lately have been due too complete tenderness and joy at the thought of bringing our daughter into our lives.

Feeling her first movements, finding out she was a girl, Chris feeling her kick for the first time, hanging up clothes in her closet, registering for baby stuff . . . There have been so many surreal moments the last month or so that have filled my heart with excitement and joy and have brought me to tears.

Of course I still have fears and have a handful of things that I am not enjoying, like not sleeping, being extra emotional, gaining weight and feeling out of control of changes that are happening.

BUT I still wake up daily, feel my growing belly and praise God for this miracle.

I want to savor these precious tender moments that are such a gift.

After a long week I am so thankful that spring break is next week.  I have plans of sitting on my couch, watching morning shows, drinking coffee and getting a few things done around the house.  Really exciting right?  Sounds pretty wonderful to me!

Hope you have a great weekend!

High Five for Friday

shirt: old navy   pants: H&M maternity  shoes: target

1. I had thought I'd wear a lot of belted shirts in the early pregnancy stage but due to the fact that the majority of my shirts don't fit my upper half, this is the first time.

2.  One of my students asked me in all seriousness, "So when are we going to name your baby?"  I had to break it to her that I wasn't really going to let my class choose a name.  (If you remember their first suggestion was Zorro.)

3.  I feel like the only recipes I post about are desserts.  I swear I eat dinner too.  I made these this week for our small group and they were SO good.  Of course Chris said they were one of the best desserts he's ever had.

4.  After many comments on this post I thought I definitely had an idea that was going to make me rich.  Turns out someone has thought of pretty much the same thing.  Thank you Allison for sharing this with me.  If it wasn't $90 I'd buy it and put it on my bed.

5. I'm was so excited to get some fabric that I ordered from fabric.com.  I love the colors! I am planning on using the elephant fabric for a crib skirt and maybe curtains.

This week has felt quite long, so I am very happy it is Friday! Hope you have a great weekend!

How I'm going to get rich

dress: target maternity    scarf: gap    boots: ?

I have always been a terrible sleeper, which I'm sure hoping isn't passed on to my daughter.
I could count on one hand the amount of times a year I sleep through the night.

Since being pregnant my sleeping has gone even more downhill and I attribute most of it to not being able to find a comfortable position since I always slept on my stomach.  Even with the use of body pillows I can not get comfortable on my side.

Which is why I'm convinced I need to invent a pregnancy mattress that has a hole in it, so your stomach can go in it.  It could even have different sections or wedges that can accommodate your growing belly.

In case you can't picture what I'm talking about, I thought it would be a good use of my time to draw one.

Now I'm pretty sure chiropractors and doctors would not support this invention, but I'm guessing that a good amount of pregnant woman would still buy it.  Which is why I think I could make some decent money if I sold them.  What do you think?  Any fellow stomach sleepers out there?
