If I only went to a fancy party . . .

dress: c/o eshakti   tights: kohls   shoes: discovery

If I went to a fancy party on New Year's I would've worn this dress.

I would have been hanging out with friends, having exciting conversations, dancing, blowing some noise makers and definitely staying up past twelve.

Maybe I should just let you think that it what I did on New Year's Eve.

But let's be honest.  I had dinner at my parents with my sister and her family, then headed to Chris' parents house.  I watched him play a few games with his niece and nephews while I laid on their couch for a little while and came home.  Only to be in bed by 11:30.

And I can't even pretend that I wasn't in my pajamas the entire time.

I'll give myself a little bit of grace to say that I was feeling extremely nauseous those days and "morning" sickness hit me the worst in the evening.  Regardless, I wasn't disappointed to spend a New Year's Eve in comfortable clothes, and quiet houses with early bedtimes.   Perhaps we're just preparing early for our New Year's Eves to come.

I'll also pretend that it wasn't terribly windy the day I took these and my hair wasn't in my face.  And that these shoes are comfortable.

But back to this dress.  I love it.  Eshakti sent it to me and I couldn't be happier.  I love the color and the details on the shoulder.  It's definitely appropriate for a fancy party or a wedding, but I think if I wore it with some boots and a sweater I could even wear it to school.

I was also really lucky because when my dress came in first, it was far too tight and they were so good about  letting me exchange it for a bigger size.  Which I am starting to wish was an option for all my other clothing, as everything is starting to feel a little tighter these days!!

High Five for Friday

dress: Eshaki   shoes: gap  necklace: ebay  jean jacket: old navy

1.   I won this dress from eshaski from a giveaway on my good friend Alison's blog.
This is the first time I've wore it and I have to say I that I LOVE that it has pockets, but I don't love the length.  I feel like dresses this length make me look short.
I'm trying to figure out other ways to wear it.  Especially in the cooler weather!
Suggestions?

2.  We have been taking advantage of the start of Fall with some delicious Fall foods.
Like grilled sandwiches, chili and caramel apple cake.

3.  As the weather gets cooler, I'm excited about getting out some of my Fall shoes.  I can easily spend a good amount of time browsing through womens shoes online looking for ones I want.  I see bloggers wearing cute Fall wedges all the time, and I want to copy!
Here's a pair I wouldn't mind owning:

                                                                    wedges shoes

4. Let's just start this number by saying how much I love the show Parks and Recreation.
And am so happy it started last week.
Ann was wearing this owl print shirt  in the episode and I want it.

Hanalei Buttondown, Owls

I clearly still have an obsession with animal printed things.

5.  I have big hopes of going to the pumpkin farm this weekend.
Eating apple donuts.  Drinking apple cider.
And taking pictures.

Here's a favorite from two years ago.

and now I kind of miss my blond hair.

Happy weekend friends!

It's OK

dress: c/o sugarlips   boots: lauren conrad/kohls  (similar)

It's OK that one thing that gets me excited about going back to school is getting to wear more of my clothes.  While I love flip flops, sundresses and not having to blow dry my hair, I do enjoy getting dressed in the morning for work.

And this dress is perfect for school.  Comfortable, lightweight and cute.
I will most likely be wearing it next week for my first week of school.

It's OK that even though it is still hot I had to try this dress on with my new boots.  I've wanted these boots since last year but never found my size.

It's OK that they surpassed my $15 rule by $35.
I've wanted them for over a year so I justified it and am ready for Fall!

It's OK that I can't decide what dress I should get from a giveaway I won.

Now I probably wouldn't buy the owl dress with my own money, but I figured if it's free it might be nice to get a fun dress.  However, the striped one is really cute too.
What do you think?
