High Five for Friday

cardigan: gift   dress & necklace: Old Navy  shoes: target  leggings: kohls

1. Yeah for bright colors!

2.  I saw this recipe on pinterest yesterday and can't wait to make it.
YUM!

Mini Chicken Pot Pies

3. My sister and I were talking the other day about outfits like this:

cute

Here they look so cute and trendy when they're these little mini outfits,
but we think about what it looks like when we wear hoodies and jeans - not so cute.
 or trendy.
more like just sloppy.

What is going wrong?

4.  Chris and I got to go away last weekend and it was wonderful.
Thankful for some much needed quality time together.

and I'm pretty sure Wisconsin is just filled with beer, cheese and pretzels bigger than our heads combined.

which I was definitely not complaining about.

5.  I have a serious addiction to sweets and I think I may need help.
(I'm even eating a bag of jelly beans as I write this).
Got any suggestions for me?

I'm looking for something better than "just stop eating them."

Happy weekend!

Dear Lauren in Law,

shirt: steve & barry's  pants: old navy (flared turned skinny - read here)  shoes: kohls

I feel like it has been way too long since I've seen you.

You're wedding is about one month away.  I am SO excited!

Which means your bachlorette party is in less than two weeks!
I was so excited to make and send out these invitations:

Do you care that everyone knows your bra and underwear size now?
Of course not.  Who wouldn't want that to be their size?

And I have to say I was slightly embarrassed when I called the "club" we are going to for your party.
She asked me what time we would be arriving and I said 8:00?
To which she replied,  "Our party room doesn't open until 9."
"Oh, then I mean 9:15."
I mean we wouldn't want to show up early, right?

Don't you worry Lauren.
I will take off my 80 year old granny pants and put on my 27 year old party shoes when the time comes!

Can't wait to celebrate you!

I love you Lauren!

a jealous heart

vest: Old Navy  shirt: Rue 21  pants: Kohls  shoes: Target

Jealousy is a terrible feeling that has started creeping more and more into my life this year.

The other day I found out that two more of my friends are pregnant.
Two of my friends just had babies, and I was envious of them when I found out they were pregnant.

Sometimes I even have a hard time looking at a complete stranger who is pregnant without wishing that it was me.

and I hate that I feel that way.

This last weekend Chris and I got to get away for a night and I was realizing how happy I am when it is just me and him.  When I remove us from everything around us I feel happier and more content with where God has us in life.

Sometimes I think life would be easier if it were just the two of us, and I wasn't comparing my life to anyone else.  I find myself basing my happiness on what I lack or where my life is not, compared to those around me.

Even if there was no one else around us, I still desperately want a baby.  BUT it definitely makes it harder when I see everyone else getting what I so badly want.

And this comparing and jealousy goes into other areas of life too.
I absolutely love my house and wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
But when I see the prices and sizes of houses selling now I am often jealous.

I'm happy and proud of my abilities to do certain things, like running, teaching or even writing this blog.
But when I compare myself to others that do it better, I can get jealous.

I was listening to this song by the Avett Brothers and while I think he's referring to greed with material possessions, I related it to my situation.
(listen to the song here)

I am sick with wantingAnd it's evil and it's dauntingHow I let everything I cherish lay to waste
I am sick with wantingAnd it's evil how it's got meAnd everyday is worse than the one beforeThe more I have the more I think:I'm almost where I need to beIf only I could get a little more
I need for somethingNow let me break it down again
Something has me Oh something has me Acting like someone I don't wanna be.

God has given me countless blessings.
And I want a heart free of jealousy and envy.
I want to be more content with exactly the place in life where God has put me.  While I fail over and over at this, I know that God is working in my heart to trust that He knows what is best for me.

" . . . for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances." (Phil. 4:11)

There's only love in tennis

dress: Steve & Barry's $4 (before they went out of business a few years ago)  boots: dsw

Last weekend Chris and I played tennis for the first time since last summer.
Chris was pretty much a tennis star in high school.

Take a look at his picture that is proudly on display at our high school's hall of fame.

While he can be proud of his tennis skills, he failed miserably when it came to his hair and clothing choices.

I enjoyed learning something new last summer and felt like I started to get decent last year.

It was nice to be able to play together last weekend, although when we moved on from just volleying back and forth and tried to play a game I didn't do so hot.

I have to say that saying "love, 30" or "love, 40" is much better sounding then saying your score of zero over and over.  Whoever made that up was definitely keeping in mind the self esteem of those not so good at tennis.

Glasses Envy

Let's start off by saying while I might not have been so jealous of this:

Lauren I owe you for letting me put up this picture.
It is not your fault. There weren't many options out there.

I am jealous of this:

For the last many years I've had some major glasses envy.
Glasses make you look smarter, older, more professional.
And I would like to have some, but I do not need them (and I'm not sure about pulling off the fake glasses look.)

And thankfully for all you glasses wearers - you have way better choices than you had 20 years ago.

Thanks to places like GlassesUSA.com.

We all know that I like finding a good deal, and GlassesUSA is full of good deals,
with cheap eyeglasses, that are still cute and stylish.

Not only do they have high quality frames and lenses, but they also offer a 110% lowest price guarantee and a 100% satisfaction guarantee!

Besides prescription eyeglasses, they also have reading glasses,
sunglasses, and so many different styles of glasses.

Now remember I don't even need glasses, but somehow I spent close to an hour using their virtual mirror feature. You can upload your picture and then try on all different kinds of eyeglasses.
And you can even send your images to friends to see what they think.

You should try it.

And GlassesUSA.com is offering all you blog readers some great discounts:

Take 50% off FIRST pair of prescription eyeglasses from their entire collection, just use the code: EASTERSAVINGS
or
Take 10% off any order of prescription glasses using the code: Blog10

Happy glasses wearing! I'm jealous.
