High Five for Friday

1. As a week full of many sick days, I'm thankful for some extra outfit pictures I haven't used, like this one.  Definitely beats showing you pictures of me in sweatpants.

2. Have you heard about the Boy Meets World Sequel? Apparently they are making a spin off with Cory and Topanga's daughter called Girl Meets World.  This was my favorite childhood show and yet another reason why I want cable!

3.  My sister in law made this tree skirt last week and am I super impressed.  I told her she needs to make one for me.

4.  The company My Memories Suite generously gave me a chance to review their scrapbook software and it came at perfect timing, as I was able to use some of our pictures from getting our Christmas tree.  I had so much fun playing around with all the different options.  It was really easy to figure out and I plan on using it a lot.

Years ago I made scrapbooks and did a few for our wedding, and dating years, but I love this so much more! You can make your own scrapbook and then print it from home or use their printing company to turn it into a book.  You can also make cards, videos, photo books and more!

Fall Repeats

This outfit consists of my favorite recent fall loves: 

colored denim, wedges, leather jacket and a scarf. 

I made this scarf last year and am excited to wear it often this Fall and Winter.
This isn't like one of those projects I've made in the past that claim to be 30 minutes, but really take me over two hours.
This project is honestly an under 30 minute deal.
So easy that I'm reposting the directions from an earlier post. 

Buy a piece of jersey/knit fabric.You need a fabric that is nice and stretchy.  (I bought two yards.)

Lay your fabric out on your floor and fold it in half so that shorter ends match up.
The outside of your fabric should be facing in. (although with some knit fabric is doesn't make a difference)

Pin it in place. (This is important since knit fabric is very stretchy.)

Sew the ends together.

Flip it inside out (or outside in technically?)

That is it!

I've also made one in yellow and I'm sure I'll make another one soon. I'm on the lookout for a floral print!

1. Sorry for the poor picture quality.  I'm a little sad that we are getting to days when it is too dark in the morning to take pictures and dark some days when I get home.  

2.  One of my favorite fall decorations in my house may be this book pumpkin I made last year. 

It's nice to know I can put old college textbooks to good use. 

3.  I'm really excited because I ordered these boots this week and can't wait to get them. 

They were only $30 and I found a 20% coupon online. 

 This site may be dangerous as there are way to many things I want! 

4. My brother's birthday was this week.  

I'm loving that I've been able to spend more time with him since he's been married and lives so close.  I'm pretty proud of the man he's become and his wife picking skills too.   

Happy birthday Jacob! I love you!

5. While we have had great time away the last two weekends I am SO happy to be home this weekend.  I have plans for catching up on tv shows, a yoga class with my mom and maybe a sewing project.

Boys & Superheros

Last weekend Chris and I watched The Avengers.  

He had already seen it but was excited to watch it again. 

I have to say that it was pretty funny and I did enjoy it, 

but what I enjoyed way more was watching and hearing Chris enjoy it. 

Something about the flying, fighting and transforming into superheros made it appear that this was quite possibly one of the best movies he's seen.  

Here's just a few of his comments during the movie:

This part is really funny. Watch this. It's my favorite part.

Mystery Animal

I've shared my obsession with animal printed things a month or so ago and

some of you seemed to be confused when I shared my liking for the bird shirt I bought this summer. 

While I like birds on my shirt, I don't actually love birds, nor do I want real birds around me. 

Real birds are gross and dirty.  Birds on shirts are cute and fashionable, right? 

I sure hope so because I just bought another bird printed blouse this week. 

And while I love this animal shirt I probably don't love the actual animal.

But I'm sure sure because I don't know what this animal is.

a dog? a bull? 

I don't know. But I like it. 

Beyond my excitement for animal prints,

The $15 Rule

If you haven't learned by now, you should know that I am very cheap. 

When I walk into a store I walk right to the clearance racks, and rarely look at anything else. 

Usually if something is more than $15 I don't buy it. 

Which partly explains why I have so many clothes, because I get them for really cheap. 

This lace blazer was an exception by two dollars, but I am pretty excited about it. 

I think I will be able to wear it all year long. 

And just in case you're wondering, I got these scalloped shorts for $7 from the Loft, 

 these shoes from Target were also $7, 

and I've already shared about my $15 necklace.

And I have to add a big thank you for all the encouraging and sweet comments on my post yesterday.  

I know I've said this before but I really had no idea the kind of connections and relationships I could make through blogging.  Reading your comments yesterday morning and throughout the day brought me peace, encouragement and happiness - so thank you!

Pleats & Shoes

I've seen a lot of pleated skirts around blogs and pinterest and I think they are so pretty.  I found this one at Kohls the other week and it was only $7.  I debated about buying it for awhile because I think it is a little too close to matching my skin color.  

When my sister is home it is pretty much a given that we will go to Target at least once.  I bought these wedges for $8.  And I bought two more pairs of shoes while she was here. 

The sandals were only $4 and then while we were out of town for the wedding I realized I forgot to pack a pair of flats to wear at the rehearsal.  So I made another trip to Target and bought these leopard flats for $15.  Can't complain about having to solve that problem!

Add up my recent purchases of a skirt and three pairs of shoes and it is only $34. 

I think I need to find a new job as a bargain shopper. 

Now despite the fact that these were all incredibly cheap I should probably stop buying shoes and clothes for awhile.  Not only do I really not need any more shoes, but my closet is running out of space!
